Jennifer Linney worked on the editorial staff of a monthly magazine published by a nonprofit association, for nearly 10 years. During that time, she worked her way from editorial assistant to assistant editor, associate editor, and assistant managing editor, editing countless manuscripts and writing scores of news stories.

Jennifer was recognized for outstanding news writing for her article, receiving an Award for Publication Excellence in the APEX 2002 competition, sponsored by Communication Concepts. Jennifer's winning news story appeared in the September 2001 issue of TRIAL magazine.

Jennifer's writing has also been published in The Washington Post. Her essay, "With Sneezy Friends, Bless Is More," appeared in the Post's "Style" section in July 1997. The Washington Post featured Jennifer's essay, "Out of Tragedy, Love," in a symposium of essays reflecting on the events of September 11, 2001. The full collection of essays appeared in the Post on September 5, 2002, under the title "A Constant Reminder."

More recently, Grammar Girl featured Jennifer's essay, "The Talk," as part of its 2013 National Grammar Day Celebration.

Jennifer has contributed to Mamalode, a parenting magazine based out of Missoula, Montana. Her essay, "All That Good Stuff," appeared in Mamalode's online magazine in November 2011. Mamalode published Jennifer's "It's Mine. All Mine" in its online magazine in January 2012.

Jennifer writes the blog "bug and the sweet banana," which Babble.com ranked #67 on its 2011 list of top 100 mom blogs. She has made books from her blogs, and finding that she enjoyed the process—and, of course, the end result—she began her own business, In Other Words, to work with other bloggers to turn their posts on the Web into pages in a book.

She also accepts freelance editing and writing assignments. Jennifer's most recent projects include a Unitarian-Universalist minister's collection of sermons, an essayist's memoirs, and "Silly McGilly," a children's book published by Big Treasure Publication.
