BookSmart

Booksmart bugs

I’m using the new version of Booksmart.

BUGS

 1) Every time I hit Ctrl-Z, it crashes.  It’s a force of habit, since all the other Microsoft programs support Ctrl-Z as the "undo" command.

2) Changing the font size via the quick buttons above the pages doesn’t work – you have to go into the menu (this is quick annoying, especially with a large book)

 SUGGESTIONS:

I would love to be able to change the font for all comments in a book at once.  Or the size or other attributes of the font.

Need more design options for pages in 10×13 book!

Should have option to add a pocket to the back of the book to be used to store momentos.

Ditto those sentiments and why is the cutline vertical for full page images?

I had the same error problems but worse. The undo even states it ctrl+Z. Pretty odd Im up this late without a glass of wine in my fist but I had to get this book done. Its a fund raiser for the local dog rescue groups and a promo for me. I have to say I was till tearing up at some of the stories when I reviewed it. And its all happy stories and photos.

I had the same crashing when I tried to adjust copy flow. what is up with that? Im spoiled on Indesign but this was worse than the old newspaper Quark I had to learn and use for a month last year. Drops letters, deletes, jumpy and slow.

Copy clipping- I hope if I can see it on the screen and see it on my printout that its there. the clipped copy warning can be for odd spaces left in at the end of the paragraph. Yikes. it was crazy

Finally printing, maybe Im tired – 3 days hammering away at this but the first time I printed out a copy it was fine and automatically came out on 8.5 X 11 at 85%. Perfect to proof but the program crashed part way. When I finished I printed out another copy. No matter what adjustments I made landscape, fit page, even put 85% on the printer preferences and it printed out at 200 % and said it was a 2 GB file. what? Thats not what uploaded. I did get it to print out tiny 2 pages per letter size sheet. but cant read it.

Feeling lucky I ordered a hard bound and a soft bound. Anyone interested in taking a look at the concept its at www.imageworkspub.com   Rescue dog fundraiser.

I’ll make it public as soon as I see my copies.  I cant believe its done and I can go outside.

I agree…this is too much like work!  I’ll stick to photoworks until these guys get their act together.

sharonbiggs:

Photoworks looks like a viable option for a book with less than 40 pages, but the book I just completed (320pages) would cost $667 on Photoworks; it cost just $149.00 on Blurb. I am very satisfied with the quality and delivery time of my Blurb books. However, I am a perfectionist so I have lightened and saturated the colors on a few pages and reordered.
