Sharing bookVery dumb question. If I want to give somebody a draft of a book before it goes to print, what is the easiest way (besides printing it). Does the other person have to download booksmart or is there another format I can save it in before I put it on a flash drive? THANKS!!

in principal you can print to PDF and share that with someone. Unfortunately I found that with all the images I have that at least printing to PDFcreator on a 50 page book was just too much and I never was able to get the PDF. So… I’m faced with the same question as you. I have a private (for family only) book and want to have someone who lives 1500 miles from me review it and make suggestions before I have it printed. However, I don’t want to enable previews online which would make the book available to anyone.

What, you can allow previews online???? That is an option I did not know about. I’ve same issue (but no concern re privacy) with other party UK and me NA. I’d be interested to hear how you do that. I actually posted much the same query re allowing other people to comment on drafts and got nowhere. ciao lizmontreal

Dan M, you can make your online preview available to others without making it public, thus limiting those who can see it. When you do the upload you have the option of making it public, in which case anyone can see it but the upload process also offers you the option of marking it as private and sending an e-mail to selected people so they can access it. Having done the upload ignore the option on the right that lets you order the book and scroll down the resultant web page a bit and you’ll see two options on the left. Public, which makes your book available to anyone through the bookstore. Or Private, to the right of the Private button you’ll see "make your book invitation only" and a link to "send an invitation", use the latter to make it available to one or more other people. You’ll have 15 days for them to review it and comment after which it will be deleted from the Blurb web site unless you buy a copy. Lizmontreal, to initiate this process select the "Preview Book" button at the bottom right of the BookSmart window, that will give you the option of Edit Book or Order Book, select the latter (it doesn’t actually force you to place an order) then follow the steps I outlined above. The online preview is great for letting people comment on layout and the photos used, but if you have a lot of text, especially if it is in a small font size, it is very hard to review that effectively via the Blurb website. If that is the case you’d be better off creating a PDF of your book and e-mailing that to your reviewers. Have a look at this post….. http://forums.blurb.com/forums/1/topics/13233 ……Tony
