Adding a page to the front of a 70 page book pushes everything into the pink gutter area!!!

I am in the process of creating a large book. After completing 70 pages so far, I had to add a page at the beginning of the book. I have been very careful to keep everything out of the ‘pink’ area. All of the contentsof the suceeding pages are now pushed into the pink area. I was told I would have to just add a blank page back and it would shift back. That is true but this makes no sense. If I don’t add back a blank page, I will have to manually move each group of images/text back out of the pink area.

Is this the way it is supposed to work???? Absolutely crazy. 

Please tell me there is a better way to fix this problem.
