Why do my fonts and text change after saving

After spending an hour choosing a font, sizing and spacing how I want everything to look I saved it.  A box popped up mentioning auto save.  cool.  I cooked dinner reopened book smart only to find my lovely fonts, spacing and text all messed up..

WHERE did it all go???

Thanks

Pat, as I may have expressed on these forums in the past, i TOTALLY DO NOT TRUST that auto-save function!  I would not trust an auto-save function in ANY program.  I would HIGHLY recommend that you use the manual Save option in the file menu (for some reason, I don’t even get an indication in Blurb that it saves with the Control-S keyboard command) so I use the actual drop-down menu Save command every so often and DEFINITELY before I exit a book or the program altogether.  This is the only reason I can imagine for your problem.  Maybe it is a bug within the Blurb program.  Maybe auto save works fine for some.  Maybe I am just paranoid, but I cannot bring myself personally to trust it!  And I have never had any problems like those you describe. Hope this helps!

I do not trust the auto save either so I have been saving my work often.  Even though I did that, I find that as I edit pages in my book, the program has erased all of the borders I spent hours selecting and fixing.  I have created a 200 page photo book and am so irritated right now that I have to go back and re-edit all 200 pages!  I already did this once before when my text disappeared throughout the book.  I’m just glad now that I didn’t hit the "order book" button before noticing this.

I always save from the drop down.  THis change happened after I manuslly saved.  The old version of booksmart did not do this to me.  I need a blurb rep to contact me or roepond here in the forum.  I have several blurb books this is a new kink in a kinky system.  AND how do I know that when i do go back to fixs this it won’t screw up in transmission.  I’m a little disapointed with the latest version of booksmart.  Its not all that smart.

Pat,

if you haven’t already you should raise a Technical Support Request, that’ll get you a faster response from Blurb than waiting for them to spot your problem in this forum.

The border problem happened to me, too, and it was very frustrating to edit each page again. I’ll try the drop down save option. The other problem I have is I don’t understand why the Title page changes according to what I put on the jacket cover. How can those remain separate? Thanks for any help!

Hi Melaniemc,

Yes, the link between the Title Page and the Cover used to be optional… Now it’s automatic, and it bugs me a bit too. I’ve logged that problem with our developers to be fixed, but in the meantime the workaround is to simply choose another page type for your Title Page. Please simply highlight your title page and use the Apply Page Layout menu near the top left corner of your Booksmart screen to select a different page type (which won’t contain that link to the cover).

Best regards,
Jeremy
