BookSmart

Layouts not accurately built?

For the cover of the book I am currently making, I am using the Darkroom theme and the fifth layout from the bottom of the menu in the latest BookSmart. (It’s the one with four small pics above the title and eight below).

On both the editing view and the preview, there is a small gap between the third and fourth pictures in both rows below the title. All the other pictures are touching, but there’s a small sliver of black background between these ones which looks rather unprofessional. I have double checked that all the photos fill their containers correctly but cannot get rid of the gap.

It looks like the default layouts have not been built accurately!

Howdy,

Thank you for the very helpful screenshot. This is definitely something we’re working to improve.  Can you tell me whether this same thing happens when you create a new book in BookSmart 1.9.4?

best regards,
Jeremy

I’m in the middle of a *big* book project at the moment so I’m not going to download 1.9.4 just yet! Once I’ve completed this book I’ll try it out – I can live with the little gap on the cover as I don’t want to have to restart in the new version.

When I download the new version I’ll try it out….

Nice to see you’ve addressed this in version 1.9.5 – there’s customer service for you!

Does this update also fix layouts WITHIN the book? Here’s 3 pics (hopefully) that show my experience:

Okay, I just updated to the most current version, and it doesn’t fix the issue I mention above.

Owen – have you printed these books? I noticed similar effects on some layouts but the misalignments only seem to show at certain zoom levels, and I put it down to rendering issues on screen. Would be interested to know if the bad alignment shows up in print.
