BookSmart

Blog Slurp goes nowhere

Keeping in mind that “currently BookSmart only supports WordPress.com blogs and not self-hosted ones” I did the following

1. I took a self-hosted Movable Type blog, and exported it.
2. I then successfully imported it into a free-hosted WordPress.com blog.
3. I started the blog slurper and entered my login details for a Wordpress.com blog.
4. Frowned at the program for giving me the message “Sorry, we’re not having much luck signing in. The username and password provided don’t seem to be working with that blog service. Please try again.”
5. Tried again a couple dozen times and got the same message.

What is going wrong? The username and password provided most certainly DO work with that blog service when I go there and enter them. Is the blog too “new” in that it was created (by importing it) shortly before I tried the Blurb software? Is it timing out?

Hello gspm

As you may know, we are closing in on a new version of BookSmart that promises to be one of the most comprehensive versions we’ve released to date. It will include numerous feature enhancements, along with an assortment of bug fixes. Foremost on this list is improved blog slurping and instructional copy around blog to book.

We’re planning on a prospective release date sometime in September. This might be a bit longer than you had hoped for, and I apologize for the inconvenience. We hope you find it worth the wait.

Best regards,

-Ben

I’m having exactly the same problem with my wordpress.com blog. Does your reply mean this feature is currently not working and I should wait till an update is released?

Thanks

Hello Bob,

You are correct, currently Wordpress slurping is not working consistently. BookSmart 1.9 will fix this, so stay tuned.

I managed to log in, and it found my two blogs, but when I tried to slurp the blogs, I got this:
<del>—</del>-<del>—</del>-<del>—</del>-<del>—</del>-<del>—</del>-<del>
A connection to the blog could not be established.

Double-check that there is an active conection to the internet. If so, your blog service provider may be down or experiencing high demand. Please try again later.

BookSmart recieved the error mesage: "Could not read blog"
</del>-<del>—</del>-<del>—</del>-<del>—</del>-<del>—</del>-<del>—</del>-<del>—</del>-<del>—</del>—-

I’ve tried again many times now, in different days and everything. So I don’t know what to do with it..

Hi,
Will slurping a blog from blogger.com work? I am having the same problem as above, with it saying I am not connected to the internet. Then my friend is trying to to the same and it tells her that her blog is OLD and she needs a new one???? what does this mean?
Thanks
CS

Hi all,

I’m having the same problem described by @ wormgirl above

Booksmart (1.9.2.20.770) sees my blogs in WordPress.com, is able to link using the "View" option but then hiccups and gives me the same error msg as @wormgirl describes. The blog I’m trying to slurp is fully public. I’ve been trying for many days (and nights), but no luck.

Help! Pretty please…

Besides this :( I just looooove this Blurb  affair. I am waiting for my first printed book to arrive. Haven’t felt so excited since…

Thanx

RM
