Photoshop jpg turns into big black nothing

Hi there,

I just tried importing a jpg file that I created in Photoshop, but somehow it turns out completely black in Booksmart. Any idea what might be happening here? The file is shown the way it should be when I open it with Preview, so I’m guessing it’s not the jpg itself…

Howdy,

When this happens, it’s usually because the image is in CMYK. Of course, we eventually print in 4 colors, but BookSmart can only accept and correctly use RGB images. So you’ll most likely want to go to IMAGE>Mode in Photoshop and change it to RGB. Then resave and reload the image into BookSmart.

If that’s not the problem the iamge might simply be very, very large. In that case, you’ll want to ensure that the longest side of the image is no greater than 4,000 pixels.

Hope that helps!

Best regards,
Jeremy

Same issue, .jpg is black, is in RGB, resized to 4000 pixels wide on horizontal format.
