If you want some help from someone from forum discussion, you need to at least a bit more specific on what kind of system architecture (operating system) you are working with.

Hello sethh; BookSmart does not use a "regular" "drag & drop" functionality… You need to use BookSmarts own "importer" to bring your images into the program. Start BookStart, and in the left hand panel you will see a header "My Imported Photos"... under that "Get Photos". Click on that, select "My Computer" and then surf to the folder that your images are stored in… Cheers; Lee

Good morning Lee, drag and drop works fine for me, either into the My Imported Photos panel or directly into the page. Give it another go :-) .........Tony

Hi Tony; NOPE – "drag & drop" doesn’t work for me…. but (for me) it’s not a problem… I guess it’s just another one of those little BookSmart glitches that we know & love so well! I’m still on an older release… made the specific decision NOT to upgrade until my latest book is printed, done & dusted… so it’s not worth filing a report – because all Blurb will tell me to do is to upgrade! I’ll take my life in my hands & do that shortly!!! Cheers; Lee

Drag and drop usually works for me. I’m having another problem today. I have some images that I need to add to a book, They are tiffs. I convert them to jpegs so I can omport them into the book project. However, when I import theimage, it just shows up as a solid black. This had never happened to me before. I tried sizing the image down, but nothing I’ve tried seems to work. Anyone else have this problem, and have a solution? Thanks Mike

Hi Mike; Check the colour-mode… MUST be sRGB for BookSmart. Adobe RGB is usualy a culprit here… Cheers; Lee

Mike, If you’re on a Mac, drag and drop works fine, whether you drag one image or 100 at a time.

Howdy portcarling et al., The issue might be that your images aren’t actually in your iPhoto Library, but rather are located in a variety of folders on your computer and are simply "thumbnailed" or aliased by iPhoto. BookSmart needs the images to be saved in your iPhoto library in order to use them. One author who had that problem this week said she used a Mac application called Aliasherder to reorganize photos on her computer so they would actually be in her iPhoto Library. Going forward, you can make sure to check the "Copy Items to iPhoto Library" option, which is located under the iPhoto Preferences menu (Advanced>Importing). Also, you can load those same photos into your book from wherever they actually live on your computer by simply using the Get Photos tool in BookSmart. Hope this helps! Jeremy
