How do I type the degree symbol in cookbooks

Hi.  I’m trying to type the degree symbol (350 degrees).  Does anyone know where I find it?

Thanks for your help.

To help others with Windows who are looking to insert a special character there is an application called Character Map that you will find under Accessories….System Tools from the Start…All Programs menu that will easily let you do this.

Just choose the font you are using, scroll down till you find the character, click it, click Select, click Copy then back to BookSmart and do a Paste.

On A Mac:
In many programs on a Mac you can open “Special Characters”. I use Mail because I always have it open. (In Mail it is at the bottom of the edit menu). Once the characters window is open you can select the “special” character you need. Since it’s not connected to BookSmart you should check that you have your chosen font selected as well. But be aware that not all fonts contain all characters. Select the character you want in the window. Go back to BookSmart and click in the text window where you want the special character. Then go back to the special characters window and click “insert with font” button at the bottom of the window. If you only see “insert” it will be using whatever font it last used. I always click on the character with the font (the area where it says collections and shows you the character in all the different available fonts) to make sure I get the right font as well as character.

Another shortcut is to hold down the Alt key while pressing 0 1 7 6 and then release the Alt key. It will insert the degree symbol right then and there.
