BookSmart

BookSmart can't open new version of file

Hi,

I saved a version of the book I’m writing on my computer, but we had to reinstall Windows XP on it. Since the reinstallation, the files in the BookSmart Data folder open versions of the book that are months old, and seem to be the only .book files on the computer.

 Help?

Thanks,

Tyler

Tyler,

I typed too fast. For future frame of reference, I suggest that you want to learn more about exporting your book files on external hard drive or flash drive, just to play it safe. To learn more about export/import feature in Blurb Booksmart, conduct search query on import/export, or look in Search FAQ.

Hope that also helps.

Tyler,

Look at the file name suffix of your export.  It the suffix is ".bookexport" then change this to ".book"

For some reason, recent versions of BookSmart create backup/exports with this longer file name suffix which is then not recognized by BookSmart.

This happened to me and when I changed the file name suffix back to the old naming convention, it then imported just fine.
