BookSmart

resample photos ?

I set up a book of photos. But the photos are generally a little dark. So – I went back to the photos in their source folder and used Photoshop to brighten up almost all of them.

Q: Will BookSmart resample these photo files when I open up and upload the final book ? or do I need to go back, delete the photos in the book and insert them again ?

Thanks,

Saoir

BookSmart does not keep a link to the original photos, so it is your second option I’m afraid.

Ooooops… another question on this…

In the source folder of photos I have altered the brightness… as I mentioned above, but I did not change the file names.

Q: When I open the book I created – have the photos on the left, the list of thumbnails, been updated to the new updated files ? or do I have to start completely from scratch ? and freshly import the photos into the book … thereby erasing their appearance in the book altogether.

Saoir,

they have not been updated. You will need to delete the photos in your book and re-import them.

I find the quickest way of doing this is to have my windows folder, where the original photos are stored, open in thumbnail view alongside the BookSmart window, then go to your first photo page and drag and drop the first photo directly from that folder into the container on the page rather than using Get Photos. Then do the same for the rest. That way I find it easy to see which photo goes where and to keep track of which ones I have done.

At the end of that process your thumbnail list on the left will have your existing photos and after those all your new ones (even though they have the same name). Just underneath the Get Photos button you will see a Filter drop down. Make sure ONLY Show Unused Photos is selected, you can then click one of the thumbnails to select it followed by Ctrl-A to select them all, then hit the Delete key to get rid of them. Make doubly sure Show Used Photos is NOT selected otherwise you will delete those as well – as I know :-(.  But Edit Undo works!

Thanks again Tony

…. oye that is a real bummer…
I had set up my book with about 25 pages of photos from a folder of about 500…. and having to start again means I will forget the ones I chose :(

I am think now that I need to chose the photos BEFORE I start setting up the books and put them in a separate folder to start with … ahhh hind sight is such a pain …. :-)

tks
