PDF to Book

Resizing in InDesign?

I want to resize my 12×12 InDesign created book to something more affordable, but don’t want to start completely from scratch. As a shortcut, I’d like to resize the pages in File/Document Setup, say, width=486 and height=477 for a 7×7 book, which keeps my content in the neighborhood so I only need to move and resize. Will this work, or is it more complicated?

Thanks,
Don

If I understand you correctly, then yes. With your 12 by 12 book open, go to Layout and click Layout Adjustment, the check Enable Layout Adjustment. Now go to Document Setup and make your changes. InDesign does its best to keep your alignments. I think that’s what I did, although I was only enlarging about 10%.

I tried this and it worked well to the finished book. Obviously, if you are resizing from a 12" square to a 7" square, you have a lot of work to do resizing and reconfiguring images and text, but it is so much easier when the images and text are already on the page.
