PDF to Book

Relative Quality of PDF and Booksmart Books

Does anyone have any comments on the relative quality of books produced via the pdf to book workflow using InDesign (CMYK Tiffs converted to PDSF) and srb jpegs from Booksmart?

I am not particularly adept at InDesign and have found a workflow from Lightroom to Booksmart to be easy and quick. Is there, however, a significant, improvement in the quality of printing as opposed to the flexibility of design in using the pdf to book workflow over booksmart?

Any observations, comments gratefully received.

Thanks

Flexibility of design, absolutely, no comparison. In InDesign you can do ANYTHING you want, unconstrained by BookSmart’s limitations. Quality-wise, I don’t know, because I haven’t made a book with BookSmart, but my guess is that the quality of the printing of the two methods is identical.
