Generating PFDs with scripts

Hi,

I am writing a PHP script that takes all images in a directory, sorts them and produces a XeLaTeX file that I can then compile into a PDF using TeXShop (freeware). Once the images are ready, generating a 400 page book takes about 10 seconds.

Has anyone done a similar thing? Willing to post the scripts?
