Bookify

Bookify Crashes everytime I change Page Layout

Using Safari on Mac, every time I try to change the page layout, Bookify crashes. I’m about ready to give up and go to another book service. Any ideas?

Hi teneight1008,

Try clearing your browser cache and trying again. You may also want to try using Bookify from an alternative browser like Firefox or Chrome. If you continue to see the problem let us know.

I have the same issue.

I was working before, but then something happened and I couldnt edit the book at all. Every time I made any change to the book, it would crash and tell me to restart Bookify (which just led me to the same problem).

The details of the crash listed the error as 2130 and stack trace "null".

And just recently, I cannot even bring up the book in Firefox. The second window opens, but nothing happens. The "Loading" image comes up in IE, but same result. It will open in Opera, but any change causes the crash.

Firefox (11.3.0.1), IE (9.0.8112.16421IC), Opera (9.80)

Flash (11.2.202.233).

Further info:

I am able to SLOWLY edit my book (as I need to finish it quickly), but here is what I have to do.

1) Open Bookify in Opera. This openes the book without crashing.

2) SAVE IMMEDIATELY!! This brings up the "Save Now" link which will be important later.

3) Make my edit change, but only one change is possible (picture resize or add, font size, etc).

4) IMMEDIATELY SAVE using the "Save Now" link above. It is necessary to have that quick link to click on so that it can be done as fast as possible. Using the normal drop down from the "Actions" takes too much time before Bookify crashes.

After clicking the link, Bookify still crashes, but the save works. Even through the grayed out image of the book (while the "We’re sorry, but…" dialogue box comes up), you can see the "Saving Book" report, and then it changes back to "Save Now". However, since you need to restart Bookify at this point, there is nothing more to do.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Still not at all usable in FF and IE.  :-(

Okay, partially solved….

There is a known bug between Firefox and Flash right now (and I thought this might be the problem). YouTube videos will not play on the latest Firefox with the latest Flash installed. There was a procedure to downgrade Flash which allowed you to play YouTube videos.

After I did this, the YouTube videos were playing again, but I could still not start Bookify on FF; I would get the blank screen and no load. I eventually re-installed Flash to the latest version and decided to play my videos on another browser (a pain for linked videos from things like Facebook).

But looking on the Mozilla Facebook page, I forgot there was a second option to try, involving RealPlayer. It is:

1) Close all browsers

2) Open RealPlayer

3) Click on preferences

4) Click "Downloading & Recording"

5 Click "Enable Web Download & Recording" to off

6 Click OK

Now at least I see Bookify load in FF, but it still crashes if I make any changes.

I also could now watch my videos in FF, too….
