Customizing the cover photo layout

Maybe this has been answered but I’ll ask anyway. Got a picture that will only work (it’s a bit grainy if it’s too big) if the photo space on the cover (book cover) is smaller. Is there any way I can manipulate Blurb’s cover page to make the photo layout smaller?

Hello belairjeff;

NO you can’t re-size the image pane - but you CAN "re-size" the image within an image pane…

Click on the image within the pane, and use the "zoom-slider" at the top of the "edit" page, alongside the other image control tools…

That should do it!

Actually, you "CAN" resize the cover photo, or any photo, or any text box if you have some computer saavy and understanding of xml and are willing to experiment.  However, I "WOULD NOT" recommend any of that for the average user just putting a book together.  I’d classify the skills needed on the level of being a "power user" that understands BookSmart and how it works.

Hello 200mphmedia;

Yes, of course, technically, you are right, you COULD change the template profile, but it certainly isn’t advisable – as you say…

Personally, I find that the selection of templates now, along with the image sizing & placement tools provide 95% of what I want… For the few occassions when I can’t make BookSmart do what I want, it’s a far easier bet to create the page layout in PhotoShop and import it as a flattened JPEG image into a full-bleed page…

I suspect for the OP that my solution will do what he wants…
