How to update photos?

Delete the images currently in Booksmart by clicking on them and hitting delete. You will have to manually insert the new images. I don’t know of a way to insert all of the new ones at once. May be someone from Blurb can be more helpful.

I’m looking for an answer to this, too. If BookSmart is linking to the original image, why won’t it automatically update the image once I’ve edited it in an outside app like Photoshop? This is standard functionality in any page layout app I’ve used (Quark, InDesign, etc.). If you modify a placed image, then the layout application knows you’ve modified it and updates it. I imagine it doesn’t work in BookSmart because when you import an image into BookSmart the app actually makes its own copy of the image in the Library folder. I tried editing the .original files in the Library folder (change the file extension from .original to .jpg, edit them in Photoshop, resave them, and then change the extension back to .original) to see if BookSmart would automatically update the image in the layout… but it didn’t work. In fact, after that, BookSmart said it could no longer find the image.

Hi drewincanada,
As for your quoted statement, ”... This is standard functionality in any page layout app I’ve used (Quark, InDesign, etc.). If you modify a placed image, then the layout application knows you’ve modified it and updates it.”
I agree with you about automatic updates in Adobe InDesign, which is a neat feature. It is a big time saver.
As for your last paragraph quoted as saying, ”...I tried editing the .original files in the Library folder (change the file extension from .original to .jpg, edit them in Photoshop, resave them, and then change the extension back to .original) to see if BookSmart would automatically update the image in the layout… but it didn’t work. In fact, after that, BookSmart said it could no longer find the image.”
Perhaps that you want to contact Blurb Team to submit a suggestion or feedback – such as feature enhancement request for condsideration, here: http://www.blurb.com/help/feedback
Hope that helps.
