Does anyone know exactly how this was done? After the basics, I’m also wondering if I need to factor in 1/8 or 1/16 of an inch for the edges of the page that "go down" into the binding??? How do I make sure I have things matched up EXACTLY? THANKS!!

I could try to explain it here but you can just see my post with pictures: http://theartofengineering.wordpress.com/2008/01/23/want-to-make-a-blurb-book/ Click on the "Learn how to put a picture across the gutter of spread link." You can also download the templates I made for each Blurb book size from the link above. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions. Robin

Hi Robin – I went out and looked at the link you provided and right off the bat have a question: do I NEED Photoshop or InDesign in order to USE these templates? If not, how do I link up the templates with Booksmart so I can "choose" one of you template designs? THANK YOU SO MUCH!

No, you don’t have to have Photoshop or InDesign but I know that there are some free 30 day trials of Photoshop Elements out there somewhere. You can also use other image correction software. Or you can try to do it in Booksmart but it won’t be as accurate. Just pick the solid gray box for both pages and put the same picture on both pages. Line it up the best you can and then add 1/4" to one side (again a guessimate). But doing it this way you probably won’t be able to put the text on one side because it isn’t part of the picture. Let me know if you have any more questions! Robin
