photos smaller than image box ... is this okay?

One question:
I am making my first book (a gift for my son for high school graduation) and I am using the photo layout templates. Some of my photos are smaller than some of the image buckets. And I want them to stay that way.
They look okay when I preview … I just want to be absolutely sure that there won’t be boxes or grey shadows or anything where the photo “should” be.
Can anyone confirm for me? Thank you!!
