Page numbers

The FAQs say “You can apply page numbers to a single page, all right-hand pages, all left-hand pages, to all pages, or to no pages whatsoever.” Well – sort of. Only at this point do you discover that, first, you have to add footers … and you can only do that
one
laborious
page
at
a
time

Please someone tell me I’m wrong. Because where I’m sitting this looks like a major failure in basic core functionality.

Precisely: "click inside the footer ". No footers, no page numbers. Add footers?

Mindless. It also says, helpfully, “Hint: Adding page numbers should be one of the last steps in your book-design process, …” – well durrr. But footers ? Ah well no, you have to ADD THOSE FIRST. Cretinous.
