BarcodesWhat software should I use to produce a Barcode for my ISBN is the question I had to answer. I guess on of the most important issues is being able to produce the Barcode in a Blurb compatible file format. In my case that is jpeg. So what ever software you settle on it has to be able to produce the file format of your choice. The next issue is that you have got to be able to produce a Barcode which not only has the ISBN for the Book but can also present the ISBN for the other formats for the same book. For example you might like to sell the book as an eBook as well as in hardcover with Jacket format. If that is the case then you would have to be able to produce a Barcode with the Hardcover ISBN and superimposed over that the ISBN number of the eBook. What software did I choose at the end of the day that was cost effective for self-publishers like myself was Barcode Maker 6 version 6.70 and I think you will find Lars Sams the principal more than helpful. Do I normally promote product in which I have no commercial interest well the answer to that is a simple no however I was so impressed with this product and the service I received in resolving a number off issues I am more than happy to recommend that you at least take the 30 day trial before you decide. Or you could try this one which has the advantage of being free and no software to download and install. …… http://www.terryburton.co.uk/barcodewriter/generator/ The instructions are obscure to say the least, but it has the advantage of being able to generate a .PNG which can give a sharper result than JPG in your Blurb book and it scales well. So use Symbology ISBN Contents is your ISBN Leave the other fields with their default values Click Make Barcode then click download as PNG. …..Tony | |
