Thanks Blurb for launching a directory only to have it close 3 days later. After taking the time to fill in the form I get this: "Thanks for your interest in becoming a BlurbNation Custom Bookmaker. BlurbNation is in a closed pilot phase now, but we’ll get in touch when we’re ready to add more Custom Bookmakers." To which I reply with a prompt yet respectful BITE ME! I am continuing to discover many "we are too big for our britches" chinks in the Blrub armor . The biggest is the inability to talk to a live person after hundreds of dollars have come your way. and now I just recieved this email ..<font size="2"></font><font size="2">"BlurbNation is in an initial invite-only phase, but we’ve put you on our waitlist. We’ll review all requests over the next few months and will contact you when we’re ready to add you to the directory. " Why do you continually offer things like "free shipping" that isn’t and offers that leave out vital information? If operated my business this way I’d loose all my customers. I know I put Eileen’s email somewhere…... </font>

Hi Linda, I saw your post and wanted to assure you that BlurbNation isn’t closing, we’ve only just begun. We launched BlurbNation on Friday, January 4, 2008 and it’s going to be great as we continue to grow the program. But, let me please clarify a couple things for you: We state on the Custom Bookmaker application page, in the blog comments, in our FAQs, and in our reply to all Custom Bookmaker applicants, that "BlurbNation is in an initial invite-only phase. If you’d like to get on the Custom Bookmaker waitlist, please use this form." I’m sure you can imagine that there are many, many people excited to participate in BlurbNation as Custom Bookmakers. We’re carefully tending to the provider list in the beginning to make sure that BlurbNation is a success from the start. That is why we’re accepting applications now, but adding new Custom Bookmakers more and more over the next couple months. As our reply to you stated, we did get your application and we will be in touch when we’re ready to add you to the BlurbNation Directory. I hope you still take part in it. Regards, Allison

I suggest you put criteria such as "invite only" right up front. Not at the end where most readers do not even get tos. Also "Free shipping" , " except for Alaska where we will only pay $7 of the $30 per shipment cost, one time only. " Honestly ,you kids seem like your right out or marketing school or bought into concepts of bait and divert. Tell us what the offer in right up front. Those are honest business practices I would like to see improved on from Blurb. You already have us so how about treating us fairly and honestly. . Now I have to go order 20 books …. thank you. Hi Linda, – Kathy

I’m excited about BlurbNation, I am just starting my business helping people tell their story and turning it into lasting treasured book! Keep growing Blurb. Thank you and as always-Keep Smiling

Dear Kathy, I appologize for the asumption of a lack of business expertise on marketing’s part. . If you look at your copy, possibly you’ll agree, that stating conditions,up front of an offer would be a more appropriate method of informing your customers of offers. What criteria may seem clear to blurb was not clear to me located at the bottom of the information. I did not discover the "free shipping" was only $7 until I placed the order. Then when I placed an order for a updated book , still within the free shipping timeline, the code was denied as a one time offer. Can you tell me where that was stated so I can find it again? I worked for a publishing company for many years as a sales representative to librarians and had to deal with simlar issues regarding truth in advertising and making conditions crystal clear to customer’s that may not be so saavy. It’s a judgement call to override marketing’s best though maybe misplaced intentions, but I could do that because I knew my customers and had direct contact with all 4,000 of them over a year. I had direct contact with my customers . I am the buffer between Blurb and my communty that can’t even manage going to Blurb and ordering online. My 22 book order was responed to very quickly. Thank You.

Hi Linda, The fine print or asterisked copy at the bottom of your free shipping offer states that the code is a one-time offer. So, you can only use that code one time for one book. Hope that helps. – Kathy

Hey Kathy, Suggestion: Re-post this message about BlurbNation so it’s not over shadowed by a complaint that is really not the intention the original post. I’d like others to read and discuss the potential of BlurbNation. Keep smiling
