black versus white background
I was curious if anyone has noticed a difference in picture quality when the images are printed on either a white or black background…

No differences I could see in my book, but I didn’t do a proper experiment with the same image on different backgrounds.

Thanks…i think I’m going to go with a black background for my first…

No differences I can see. The images on a dark (black) background will always appear to be more saturated than on a white background. A trick of the trade is to view all images on a dark gray background when in the evaluating stages and attempting to make proper color/density decisions about the image.

I got this from one of Blurb’s blog posts and thought it might contribute to this conversation: For a seamless shot that merges your image’s black background with BookSmart’s black page color option, consider setting the black point of your camera or photo file to 0,0,0. Cheers, Allison
