Pls give me the Booksmart 1.9 launch date....!
I am preparing a new photobook with photos from my personal photo gallery. However, I would not dare start it in Booksmart 1.8 given the stability issues. So my question to the Blurb people is…. When should we expect Booksmart 1.9 to arrive?

Hello, larios. We’re currently testing the next version of BookSmart and it will be ready soon. I know you want an exact release date, but we cannot provide that information for many reasons. One of which is that we won’t release it until it’s absolutely the best version yet, and that takes time, lots of testing, and the flexibility to wait until it’s ready. So, September 2007 is what we’re sticking to. I know it’s going to be worth the wait. -Allison

Hello Allison; In the interim; how about putting up a link back to 1.77, which appears to be far more stable then 1.8 so users can continue to play… I understand delays in releasing new software; but you’re losing business due to the flaky nature of 1.8! Lee

if we have created a draft book in BookSmart 1.8 then download or upgrade to 1.9 can we use 1.9 to mae changes to the existing book. If so I’d rather wait to publish due to the flaky preview of work done so far (I can not be sure of the way the book will print as I can not even get a reasonable colour view in the preview. Many thanks in advance for shedding some light

Hi naftalina007. Yes, if you download and upgrade to the next version of BookSmart you will be able to work on your existing BookSmart 1.8 books. -Allison

I’m facing the same issues here. I want to give Blurb my business but version 1.8.1 is a showstopper for me. I can hang in there a little longer, bur my expectations also seem to get a little higher the more I wait….

Will 1.9 allow me to change the fonts used on the cover while keeping the printing on the Spine? Or even better allow me to set the spine independently so that I don’t need printing on the cover while keeping the data from the spine in the Blurb online database?
I showed my first book to my clients yesterday, and they felt that the typography on the cover let the book down. So… please give me better control over spine and cover text.

If you double click the text boxes on the spine you can edit them independantly from the cover text. If you don’t want a title on the cover you can just leave it blank. I always put my title on in Photoshop and then just put a full bleed Jpeg on the cover and then set the spine to what I want. You can change the font and the positioning. Louis
