editing headers

I’d like to have the title in a header on every right page.
The title automatically appears in the header but not in the font/style I’d like.
I’ve changed the font of the header to Gempel S. and to italicize it on every page and I’ve hit hit Apply, but as soon as I leave the page, it reverts to the standard font and undoes the italics.
How do I edit so it will stay?
