Using blurb book as a wedding Proof book

I want to use a blurb book as a proof book for wedding images.

What is the best / fastest way to import 600 images or more into a layout along with the image file name so that it can be uploaded for printing. The yearbook option does not alow you to auto flow the image file name under each image. If the answer is to hand type the file name then I will need to look at a diffrent proofing system, that would take to long to hand type.

If someone is using photoshop for this would you share the action you created to automate the process.

Photoshop CS2 has a built in function that will generate photo packages or picture packages – not sure what exactly it is called – I don’t have the program on the computer I’m at. there is an option for a proof sheet. Select all the proofs you want generated and it will arrange them all on sheets inthe size you specify. Save them as JPEGS and then drop them into Blurb pages. I recommend that you do not use the full bleed page as the filenames in the bottom row have a tendency to be too close to the edge and may get cut off. Use the page template that has one large photo on it with some space around it.

With your question as in “File>Automate>Contact Sheet II”?

In a word, yes. Although, I didn’t see any info about which Photoshop version, though. Either Ps C2 or latest version in CS3 will work. Note that if you do this way, it will take a while for Photoshop to batch the automation of “Contact Sheet” layout for you.

Also be sure to save the format as highest image quality to 12. Also be sure that you put in the correct color profile, and soft proof. So that way your contact sheets looks nicely in BookSmart and the finished book.

Hope that helps.
