Blank pages?

I haven’t been able to find this information anywhere on the boards so I’m hoping someone who has published a book can tell me:

Does a blurb book come with a blank page at the start of the book and finish with one at the end (as do most ‘bookstore’ books), or do you have to add them yourself as part of your page count?

I am planning to publish a 120 page book and am wondering if I need to use 2 of the 60 sheets of paper for blank start/end pages.

Thanks in advance!

My hardback books have additional white pages at the start/ end. This is in addition to the “end page” with the blurb logo that you will see in the program that can’t be moved/ removed. (and are not numbered and do not count towards your page total).
My softcover books do not include these extra white pages. Only my exact 80 pages (as are numbered by the program),
As an aside: it is possible to remove (replace) the title & copyright pages that auto appear when you open up a new book. But the “end page” cannot be moved or replaced with another style of page. (although I’ve never done the custom logo deal, so I don’t know about that).

Hello,

same question.

I have the coverpage first, then I open the book. Is the Title page a Sheet in the book with blank back? Or is it the back of the coverppage?

If I delet that single page an other single page is shown instead.

So if I put there a text like ABCDEFG where can I find the text after the book is printed?

I hope you understand what I mean.

When you preview your book it is exactly how it will print. If you want the back of the Title page blank you must leave it blank. Blurb inserts one blank sheet at he beginning and end of each hard book. That is not shown in the preview. You can’t delete a single page since a page is a half of the sheet of paper in the book. Each sheet is two pages, front and back. No different then any other book.

Hi,

I have the same question as Tina (below) and it still hasn’t been answered.  I’ll try to restate it as clearly as I can.

In a SOFTcover book, there is one page after the cover. This page is alone and not in a 2-page spread the way the rest of the pages in the book are. Is this page printed on the back of the cover page??  OR…is this page printed as a separate page with a blank back??

 Thanks!

 RP

RP & Tina-
I honestly can’t say I understand your issue. But let me try again.
Each numbered page is half of a physical page. The first page you see is the front side of the first physical page. The default order is: a title page (numbered page 1. or Physical Page 1, side A), the copyright page (numbered page 2 or physical page 1, side B).
Try this. Take 10 sheets of paper and stack them. when looking at this stack, the first thing you see is our numbered page 1. or Physical Page 1, side A. If you flip this top sheet over, you’re looking at numbered page 2 or physical page 1, side B. and next to it (if you flipped the page as though it is in a book) numbered page 3 or physical page 2, side A. And so on. All pages have 2 sides. What you put on the back of the tile page is up to you. In one of my family yearbook books I wanted to maximize my photo pages so I didn’t use a title page or copyright page as you see in the default layout when you start a book. I replaced them with photo layouts. But your layouts will always have a “single” page as the first page. Just open any book and you’ll see the logic at work.
