Book Printing

What does the pro line pearl paper feel like?

I’ve ordered books before with regular paper and then the upgraded paper. I’ve found they are not much different really. Also I don’t like how the paper feels. It’s almost like cardboard. I am excited about the pro line pearl paper because I’ve wanted them to have something glossier and hopefully silkier and smoother. The website mypublisher has very silky and good feeling paper. Does anybody have experience with both? I’m hoping somebody can help me out. Please don’t tell me to buy the samples …. I don’t want to spend money just to feel one sample of paper … though if I never did a book before and wanted to know all the various papers I think samples are great.

I was surprised how little difference there is between the standard and "premium" papers. The main difference is the latter are a little thicker. But there’s quite a noticeable step up to the proline pearl. A much more professional paper like you’d get from a professional photographer. When I’m preparing a book for proline pearl I usually lighten the photos a little, as the end result is more dense.
