Book Printing

Overall product quality compared to Viovio.com

I had two books printed at Viovio.com. I ordered the second one before I received the first. The quality was really poor. I was extremely anxious waiting for the book I printed with Blurb, but am extremely happy with my cursory look through of the book. Very good quality for a picky customer.

 Thanks,

I am disappointed that I was unable to revise a second book I loaded on a Friday night even though Blurb people weren’t able to respond to me with a note that "our process is too automated to allow for changes." Oh well, SOL. Oh well, I’m taking my business to Sharedink.com for future photo books as their service has proven to be exceptional, not "automated."

It might already have been at the printers and on the press! If so I would suspect even the exceptional Sharedink.com would have had second thoughts in letting you revise it after you said "publish".

But looking at the price difference between Blurb and Sharedink I can only applaud Blurb’s automation, it makes hardback books really affordable.

For a Sharedink 11×8 hardback it is $50 for the first 20 pages then $1 per page, so a 150 page book would cost $180!

A Blurb 10×8 150 page hardback would cost $40, even a 13×11 would only cost $85.

So three cheers for automation, even if it means I have to double check my book before publishing.

Enjoy spending your money at Sharedink.com.

John,

If I remember this correctly, BookSmart or at the time – prior to uploading your book file to Blurb server, it give you options, including a friendly warning to “double check” on all content or photos BEFORE you want to upload.

Try to remember that once you upload and “publish” your book online, it goes straight to printer right away automatically.

If you really think you need some help, kindly advised to contact customer service. You claimed that you contacted customer service. It is likely that you got “automated” email acknowledgement, that they will contact you within a business day ONCE they receive your web submission received. I’ll just leave at that between customer service and you and go from there.

Good luck with your Blurb book project and bookmaking project if you chose different venue with other book making company other than Blurb. But you will be dealing with same issue, “be sure” that you check with your content, double check with spelling or whatever.

Your upload doesn’t go to the printer until you place an order for a book. Until that point you can make edits to your local files, re-upload and delete the old version of your book. The key is to carefully proof before you place an order for a book. You can upload all you want and still fix a boo-boo as long as you haven’t ordered anything.
