Future: image wrap AND dus jacket?

Is there a (good) chance that Blurb will offer a combination of image wrap AND dust jacket in the (near) future? A client of mine wants to place a big order of large format books, but wants the combi… He thinks the wrap looks a bit cheap (and I agree, we ordered one) and is afraid the dustjacket will get lost of tear…So he wants both, with which I agree.

Should I wait for this option? Will it become a reality?

Or will it never happen and should I look for other options?

Hi Mirjam;

This question has been raised on a number of occassions, and Blurb have been conspicuous by their silence in responding…

I wouldn’t hold your breath if I were you…. but… if you don’t like the ImageWrap, why even bother with that? All books with dust jackets will tear at some stage in their lives… Treat them tenderly, and they’ll last a lifetime!

The dustjackets on the (3) books I have ordered have ALL been high quality heavy duty paper, and I fully expect them to stand the test of time…

Cheers;

Lee

Hi Mirjam,

I found out Tuesday that they have no short term plans to offer the combination of ImageWrap and dust jacket. They didn’t say never though.

I’d agree with Lee, the dust jackets are pretty robust (and look really good). But if in doubt there are places you can get dust-jacket protectors to put on the books, have a look at this thread… http://forums.blurb.com/forums/2/topics/1984

Hi Tony;

Thanks for that update… I’m sorry I wasn’t able to join you on Tuesday night – I’m sure it would have been very interesting…

Regrettably, I still need to work for a living, and it was too difficult to schedule a trip onto town to accommodate the invite at short notice… (A lot of my customer base is in the USA – so the time difference is sometimes a bear…)

C’est la vie…

Cheers;

Lee

Hi Lee,

 Kathy told me over the weekend that you weren’t going to make it; shame, I was looking forward to meeting you. It was a good evening, lots of tit-bits came out but I can’t remember tha half of them. Eileen was a very interesting and friendly lady and she has still got lots of plans for the development of Blurb.

Tackled her about the moving of the Forum menu while I was at it, that’s one of your pet topics as well isn’t it? Similarly the difficulty of people finding the links to the support forms. So let’s watch this space.

I understand the time shift problem, my last 10 years at work I worked for a US company, though spent most of the time in the UK. They were happy for me to work late when having meetings, but they didn’t like my idea of them getting up early to talk to me.

They’ll be another opportunity in October (though I’ll be in Canada then so I’ll miss it), but keep an eye out for an announcement of a Blurb day in London sometime  then.
