Book Printing

Received first book - all OK but for the cost to my 'clients', a bit below par in quality

Hi, Blurbites!  I read several comments with interest.  Here are mine:  I am generally pleased with my book, but…the images are not as crisp as I had expected, althought I followed the blurb instructions for size and resolution to a "t".   Since the images are of my fine artworks, this presents a problems for those who are looking for my art (not the other content, which is poetry). I have a friend who doesn’t like poetry but wants the book for my art. Now I have to tell him "no" because the images don’t do my paintings justice.  Here’s something interesting:  when you preview the book (or any  book) on the Blurb site, there is a disclaimer that says that the images "you  see on your monitor are not as clear as the ones in the book".  On the contrary:  they are perfect on my monitor, yet in the book, they are not up to standard. Anyone want to take a peek? my book is in the poetry section – title: "In a Thinkle".  Return comments and/or suggestions please….. Thanks, Lorena

Hi Lorena
I use Pixelgenius’s Photokit output sharpener as the final stage before saving as a Jpeg. If you use the recommended settings i.e. 150 lpi 300ppi it should sharpen your images for the HP Indigo press that is used by Blurb. The sharpened print should look pretty awful but will print extremely well. If you wish, you may send me a small image and I will apply the necessary sharpening and you can see the results before parting with any cash for the software (assuming you have Photoshop) Regards. Tony McLean
