I don’t know what to say. Did you get your book shipped and open your book in person yet?

As you mention you are a professional photographer, I am assuming that you are aware about important “toolbox” that most photographer work with their image around image editing app and such.

Did you converted your images to sRGB? What kind of things that you are very concerned about—relating to your first book?

Bob, only one way to find out what’s going on. Download the software. Slap some on your stuff on forty pages. Read this first, of course: http://forums.blurb.com/forums/2/topics/18 . Then order a test soft cover. For less than twenty clams you’ll know exactly what is going on. Best!

Yes, I think everybody needs to keep in mind the many levels of experience with photos and reproduction needs. I work with Photoshop often and print using a 2400 Epson. I wanted to have a book to accompany a galler show of my photos and I assumed wrongly that my profiles and grayscale images were ready to place in Booksmart and print. The books came back DARK! The color was real nice but my black and whites were bad. I communicated with Blub and got some info and then I went back and readjusted my grayscale images taking some black and midtones out. My second version was nice except for a very noticeable magenta cast throughout the black and white images. I then ordered a larger number of books and before they would even start the printing run they emailed me to doublecheck that I had resolved the “dark” images. I said that I had but was a little concerned about the magenta cast. The said they should be able to correct that. So they are printing them now. I think my first dark book was my mistake not knowing what printer they were using and what profiles I should be using. Now that I have dealt with them and seen some stuff I’m pretty confident. I’ll let you know for sure in a few days. I was impressed that they emailed me right after they saw my order come in. That showed that they were aware of my earlier printing issues. Nice touch.

Hmm… I also use an Epson 2400 and I like my B&W photos on the dark side as it is. I think my book is going to be kinda screwy when it arrives.

Myoder, any more info on their offering to resolve the magenta cast?   I suffered the same problem on my final run, after doing a bunch of tests to get to the place I wanted to be.
