Big issue with shipping

Maybe I will get some feedback that will help me understand this. I created and ordered my first book. I wanted it to arrive at my friends house as soon as possible so I checked the fastest shipping method. The book was printed in just 2 days which was a nice surprise and then it was given to fed-ex. Now I am paying $16+ dollars to have this book shipped via fed-ex and it is projected to take 7 days to arrive.
My issue is not with the overall delivery date…i knew that going in, but $16+ dollars for shipping via fed-ex that takes 7 days? That does not seem right.

One more thing….the book was printed and given to fed-ex in Oregon and is being shipped to NY. So it is cross country but I am still surprised. Also, the book is hardcover at 25 pages.
