Ordering and Shipping

Is the Shipping Calculator way off?

I want to order 100 copies of a 40 page softcover book and have them shipped to California. The shipping estimator says:

Next Day $149.69
Second Day $79.36
Ground $18.63

When I try to buy 100 copies of the book, it says $300 for ground shipping or $404 for 2nd day. Is the shipping calculator really off by a factor of 5 or more?

I paid $54 to ship a similar order a year ago.

It must have been a temporary problem. When I tried it again, the shipping fees were identical to those I got with the estimator, so I placed my order.
