Delay in production

Hi All

Is anyone else suffering from a delay in manufacturing? My book was estimated to ship on the 29th, but it still says processing.

I had a very special family occasion this saturday that the book was to be a present for, sadly that’s not going to happen now.

I know it’s an estimate, but I find it hard to believe they can under estimate by what is soon going to be four days.

Cheers

Stoers,
I’m in exactly the same boat as you.  Supposed shipping date of 29 Sep, never happenned, autogenerated email apologising and saying a delay of one to two business days.  Seems like we’re being fed crap.

The order status of my order (286402) has not been updated at all and still says processing and should be shipped on 29 Sep, which is long gone.

Do Blurb have business problems ?

Why is there no telephone number or email address to contact?

They’ve taken my money (nearly $400) and are providing no feedback.  I am very frustrated and very disappointed.

Have either of you contacted support?  They may be able to find out more about the status of your orders.

I’ve certainly did contact support.

The response I got, although polite did seem to be a standard cookie cutter response. I was told "Our printers are currently experiencing a short delay and orders are shipping out about 2 or 3 days after their estimated ship dates".

So we are now four days past my original shipping date, no further news and no change to status on my page (‘processing’).

I would really appreciate some sort of update as to why there is a delay and how long it is going to be.

This appears to be very common.  Of the blurb users I know in real life, none of them have had a book ship in less than a week.  My first book took just about two weeks to ship (40 page landscape imagewrap).  We’ll see how fast my second book (ordered Sept 30) is shipped.

Yep, here the same, my book is now only a couple days late. But i really thought i would have it by now. I made it comercially, so the clients would pick it up this sunday! So that’s not going to happen’now!

I’ve made 10 books so far, and they where always shipped within 1 week exactly. Never any longer. Till now….... hope it will arrive soon! The books i’ve ordered later, are already here!

It’s a arge format landscape imagewrap. maybe that has something to do with it???

Unfortunatly I am having the same problem. Estimated shipping was 1 oct. And I was planing on presenting these as a gift on Wednesday. From the comments on the page I’m gussing  I will probaly need to make alternative plans as they may have a serios back log of orders they are processing. Its a shame that they haven’t been bothered to update the tracking information as I am sure that would ease some of my frustration.

I have just emailed support but I expect I will receive a ‘cookie cutter answer’.

good luck with all your books

Hi Kathy,

Can you tell me where the problems are, in Europe or the US?

 Thanks,

Hannie

[Reposted under my account]

Hi,

We are experiencing some manufacturing delays right now that are out of our control. A book should normally take 5 to 6 business days to produce (printing, binding, and packaging) and when it slips due to a manufacturing delay, we automatically notify you of the lateness and try to upgrade shipping to a faster method if we can. If it’s too far along in the process and we can’t change your shipping, we will also notify you by email and send along a coupon good for a discount the next time you order.

When delays of any sort happen, we do everything we can to remedy the situation as quickly as we can. And we try to message you as soon as you know. If your book is still within the window of your expected delivery date, you should be fine. If it’s going to be late, we’ll let you know. If your book is way past your expected delivery date and you haven’t heard from us, please contact us so we can check into your order.

We should have book production back on schedule in both the U.S. and Europe by Wednesday or so.

Thanks for your patience.

– Kathy

My book is delayed as well.  I received an e-mail telling me it would be a couple of days late being dispatched but my delivery would be upgrade.  But that estimation has now been and gone.  Support say it might be some point next before my book is dispatched now.

I’m very dissapointed as my book will be at least a week late being dispatched.  I placed my order in plenty of time as I wanted it as an aniversary present to take with me on holiday to Paris.  It’s very unlikely that I’ll get it now.  The time I get it it will have lost its "value"

It’s such a shame that my first order is going so wrong.  I discovered the this service after a friend made a book.  I really liked the software and enjoyed making the book.

I’m sorry, but "out of our control" issues don’t wash with me.  A good business should have to ability to deal with these issues.  C’mon Blurb, what is the latest on your production issues?  Have they been resolved?  Is there a backlog?

Fingers x’d I get my book in time!

My guess is that Blurb is having some sort of problem with one of its suppliers (ie, printer).

My book, shipped from the printer in Rochester, NY, actually arrived ahead of schedule: the book wasn’t supposed to ship until October 8th but it was actually *delivered* to me on October 8th via UPS Ground. It was ordered Sept 30, so I’m fairly pleased with this turnaround time.

I just received by delayed order and not only was it late it had a green tint to the cover instead of the normal sepia. All other orders have been fine but this one not only had an incorrect tone to the dust cover, it was left outside by UPS and got wet.

Between the delay and now having to get a rerun my clients may likely cancel their order.

Yup. This is nuts. My book was supposed to go out on 9-29 too. The email support is now saying "Maybe Monday. (the 13th) Check the website and let us know if it’s not updated by then." This is complete BS. That’s two weeks after scheduled. Via complaining I was at least able to get them to give me free shipping (everyone else on here, be sure to do this too!) but I still feel ripped off and cheated at this point. This is not the first time I’ve had this problem either. Can anyone else recommend any other online book printing sites?

Has anyone ever contacted these people by phone? The number listed is [removed] but you never get a human (even if you select sales or accounting).

I have been trying to communicate via their email forms and every time (6 so far) they return in asking me to type between the dotted lines (which I am doing). They say they don’t get the email but they do return my text as an attachment. This is beyond stupid.

I use a lot of email with other entitities and never have an issue getting through to people with my message and attachements.  However, when I email Blurb, it keeps going wrong with one issue or another.

I have to wonder, what it is it about software and email that is so difficult for Blurb?  Can’t they get some new IT people?

The good news is that all of my books have been supurb with not a single problem, except the ones created by UPS.

I have the same problem!

The book was meant to be for my son’s first birthday at the beginning on the month and I’m still waiting for my book – it’s over 2 weeks late!!  I have no satisfactory response from blurb, their favorite catch phrase seems to be "Your book is in the works!" even though the order status says shipped!

I wish someone would tell me the truth about what is going on!
