One posting (or FAQ) states that BS accepts any font our computers have, yet I am ready to choose a Word font that doesn’t appear in the BS pull-down font menu.  Can someone explain this?  What will happen if I import text in a font that Blurb doesn’t list?

Please read carefully
Tips and Tricks

This will be my first Blurb experience, and the result will only be given to a few family members, but I still had a skilled friend do some editing for me for only $15  an hour.  Editors can catch those awkward sentences and smooth out your phrasing in addition to finding all those split infinitives, dangling participles, and pronouns looking for an antecedent.  I’ll be so embarrassed if there are still errors.  Do consider an editor.

setting margins on text for import

Thank you, Kathy.  I will add no additional "margin" to the settings Blurb asks for.

Thank you both, deanej and Tony.  I’ll take your suggestion and test a few pages first.  I’m so new at this… I searched for "margin" and read every result in the FAQ’s and forums before posting.

Why do some forum questions receive no answer?  Are all questions reviewed by a staff member?  I’m not referring to postings that are merely comments or obviously need no answer.  Even a naive question from a beginner needs an answer; if we knew how to find the answer, we wouldn’t be posting.  In spite all of the information about margins, I am still confused and posted a query a few days ago.  Zilch, silence.

setting margins on text for import
BookSmart

I am setting margins in my Word doc for import to a 5×8 book and setting my paper size to 5×8.  I am setting them per Blurb instructions, i.e., .1 at the top and .9 at the bottom.  Is this for Booksmart’s trim purposes?  My pages now appear to have no room at the top and bottom for headers and footers or for a customary margin.  (Blurb doesn’t say how to fill in the header and footer instructions in Word.)  Do I then add my own margins in addition to achieve the right look?
