Hello VBGirl8,

From your post it is difficult to say what might have happened.

This is always best taken care of by entering a Technical Support Form and someone from Blurb will be in contact with you in one business day.

Unstable program issue
BookSmart

Hello Guido,

Depending how the text was entered you might be able to do a Select All (Control + A , or Command + A [OS X]) and then choose a new font color.

If you continue to experience difficulties, then I would suggest filling out a Customer Support Form and someone from Blurb will be in contact with you in one business day.

Hope that helps.

Blurb does not find my book!
BookSmart

Hello Jackie,

The website is not connected to BookSmart the local application. When you upload a book to blurb.com then you will see the book on your home page. If you have uploaded a book already and don’t see it on you home page, double check for a second blurb account.

If you continue to experience difficulties then this would be best handled by filling out a Customer Support Form. Once this is filled out someone from Blurb will be in contact with you in one business day.

how do I include blog comments into my book?
BookSmart

Hello Amy,

I believe this forum post will help:

http://forums.blurb.com/forums/1/topics/486

Depending on the blog platform some blogs will slurp in, otherwise it will be a case of cut & paste I’m afraid.

Hope that helps.

Is there a maximum file size for uploading?
BookSmart

Hello Tumere,

There is no maximum size to upload a book. As well, the actual upload size is probably quite a bit smaller than what you are seeing. BookSmart only upload the used images and any image that is over the container spec will be resampled to optimize upload performance.

As for tips I would always suggest optimizing your images for the containers they will be used in, as well as deleting un-used images in the Picture Library.
Hope that helps.

PROOF PRINTING TIME - 18 HOURS FOR 7X7 BOOK
BookSmart

Hello Coutureage,

Hmmm, not quite sure whats going on there. When running BookSmart its always best to have from 3-5GB of free hard drive space available. If you go under this amount both the operating system and BookSmart will be struggling for virtual memory.

Please fill out a Technical Support Form. Once this is filled out someone from Blurb will be in contact with you in one business day.

Photo Size -- Contradictory info
Book Design and Imaging

Hello John,

This is from another forum thread that should help clear this up:

Hello Blurbarians,

Lets see if we can resolve the whole picture size thing.

First off there are differences in cover sizes between BookSmart 1.8 and 1.9, which can cause some of the discrepancies listed above. It is also important to note that the internal page size are different from the cover size.

When it comes to picture sizes there are two opposing schools of thought: Pixels (Absolute Measurement) and Inches/DPi or Cm/DPI (Relative Measurement). Depending on your persuasion or your software as Wizaerd notes, will be how you decide to make your layout. Personally I vote for pixels due to their granularity and ease of use, but either method is fine. When you working a relative spacial measurement then you have to start worrying about DPI so image density will be correct.

So whats the best way to get the correct image size in BookSmart? Per our Head Developer:

"Always go by the size listed in the BookSmart Tooltip"

BookSmart Tooltip

The size that is listed in BookSmart will always be the correct size for the image container selected. Now some have noted a discrepancy between the pixel and inches dimensions and there is a slight one, but it just for the sake of clear text. Otherwise the exact dimensions would look like: 2884 X 2471 pixels = 9.613 X 8.236 inches. The difference between 9.6 and 9.613 is  .13%, clearly the image will look correct and there will be no visible distortion.

Regarding the image pixilation, this is strictly an on screen event that will not be reflected in your book. In a nutshell the image onscreen hasn’t been refreshed in the program. This is being looked into by our development team. One simple solution for this is to remove the image from your book and re-import it, which should clear up the issue.

Hope this helps.

HELP! too large blog, too large book. How do I divided it?
BookSmart

Hello S.Carranco,

Wow, sounds like quite a blog!

I would try manually placing the blog entries, until on book is full. Then create a new book and slurp in the entries again and then delete the one you had used in the previous volume.

Hope that helps.

Typing text so slow since downlaoded 1.9.2
BookSmart

Hello Blurbarians,

One thing I would double check would be the video card driver. Particularly nVidia has been a little uncooperative for certain cards and drivers. Namely the 8800 and the 7600 series.

In some cases upgrading to the newest one had helped and in other cases the previous one helped.

If you continue to experience issues then filling out a Technical Support Form is the best way to get this looked into further.

Hope that helps.

32 bit color
BookSmart

Hello Musikatt,

It looks like your video card is getting stretched a bit thin and for the current screen resolution. I would try lowering the screen resolution applying the changes and then looking at the color depth and then see if the 32-bit color presents itself.

If you continue to experience difficulties, then I would suggest filling out a Customer Support Form and someone from Blurb will be in contact with you in one business day.

Hope that helps.
