BooksSmart and Resample of bigger photos on smaller containers?
BookSmart

Hi!

In the past, i have issues whem using BookSmart because if i have a container smaller than the photo size, the software won´t resample the image, making it appears grainy and noisy on the final print, after problems with some books back in 2010, Blurb support told me this. According to they, i have to manuany resize all my picures that are bigger than the container to avoid this no-resample issue, but, is a pain to design a book and later, check all container sizes, resize the images outside the BookSmart, import and place all again, replacing the images used to develop the layout…

Today, thinking that this was about 2 years ago, have we some progress in this matter? Since i stumbled in this difficult on time, i moved and started using Apple Aperture to create my books, exporting 300DPI PDF from it to generate JPEGs and later, importing as full-page images on BookSmart to order…
But now i´ll relay the production process to one of my associates and he only works on Windows (No Aperture avaliable) and this question has returned to scary me…

Anyone has a word on that? Thanks in advance!

OSX 10.7 Lion Compatibility
BookSmart

I was ultimately making my books on Apple Aperture, exporting the pages and importing on Bookfy, but even bookfy have glitches, the worst: A BW page that is side-by-side of a color oage get contamined with color, showing a tint of predominant color of the color side… Because of this, i was planning return to BookSmart, only to insert the alredy-baked pages to upload to Blurb, but i can´t use it, i made a clean OSX Lion 10.7.1 install on my 2011 21,5 iMac Corei5 Quad, clean user setup too but a fresh Booksmart install don´t work, i only get a error like this (http://lockerz.com/s/132236671 – But in plain english) and a no go… No log, no crash details, nothing, only a crap software that don´t work…

Blurb managers, i think that you are being foolish by yours Software enginers that consumes money and deliver this trash, fire them all and buy a licence os a trully bookmaking software like DG, You Select It, D-Book os even, a morecomprehnsive PDF-to-Book  way that doesn´t require a expensive software like inDesign…

Resample issue was solved in BookSmart 3.0?
BookSmart

The anoying problem of images with high resolution in small size on book getting noisy because not being resample by BookSmart still affect the new version? It’s a pain in the a** the need of manual and individual resize of pictures to not look terrible when used in small boxes, i have a 21mp câmera and need to resize in photoshop/reimport every time i need a small picture…

BookSmart For Mac:The worst sofware that you can get?
BookSmart

Botton line: Here im Brazil we have a big book print service, and this service offers 3 different ways to make your books: A web-based service, like the new Blurbfy and two software-based, both licensed from third-party developers (PhotoFusion and D-Book) and all works great with more than 30 options provided by the book service without crashing or poor resize effects on my 18 and 21mp images, why Blurb don´t make his enginers work on a more apropriate task (like telemarkenting) and license a trully effective tool from someone that know how to creat good code? I guess that the need for manual resize in every picture on a book to match the container size is not a good and productive solution to make a creative work without the need to always think on technical stuff…

BookSmart For Mac:The worst sofware that you can get?
BookSmart

I use Blurb services about 1 year and BookSmart for Mac never was a "Good" or "Smart" software to work, but, it´s a necessary pain… But, since release of version 2.9, it was turned into a trully "crapware"hanging, crashing, being unresponsive, and together with others features, like don’t downscale images correctly (i think that this alone is already a big shame, every programming student can implement a conditional reszing routine in a blink of eyes, but Blurb can’t!)and another annoying things that Booksmart do.

During my last book, with 102 pages and 200 photos, BookSmart  crash 52 times, and today, i started to build a book, and my book with only 5 pages and 6 images creshed 3 times in a row on two different Mac (a MacBookPro and a new iMac 20,5", both with updated Snow Leopard and 4Gb of RAM). BookSmart is so buggy that even the crash reporter that appears after every crash, crash on majority of times, don´t allowing to send a simple crash log…

So, anyone has this kind of problem with "BumbBook"?
