My indesign (3) will not open blurb templates
PDF to Book

I got in touch with Blurb Tech Support and was basically told that owners of  legacy versions are on their own. I designed my own template, but I’m nervous I screwed up somehow and PDF-to-book is gonna reject my book.

Requirements InDesign-PDF - Please HELP !!!
PDF to Book

I’m curious about this too – I have an ancient version of InDesign, so I set up my own template. How do I apply/use the settings file I downloaded from Blurb?

I got these messages too! I think you and I have InDesign CS version 3, not InDesign CS3, so our versions are too old to read the templates. VERY disappointing…

Continuing a picture over a 2 page spread
Book Design and Imaging

A fellow Blurb user wrote this tutorial for doing it mathematically (i.e., not by eye) in Photoshop – it’s brilliant!

Guest book pen?
General Interest

We were told that Slick Writer pens by American Crafts were good because they are acid free/archival quality and don’t bleed through. They worked really well with our Blurb guest book.

Bookstore Staff Picks - Do They Actually Look Inside?
General Interest

Thanks for the replies!

The only reason I asked (and I can’t think of any way to say this without offending somebody, so I apologize) is that when I was looking for inspiration for my wedding and engagement photo books, most of the Staff Picks from the weddings category had exceptionally artistic covers but rather pedestrian photography and layouts inside.

After checking out many PDF previews of the their contents, I’m curious to know if you think the books that make it into the Staff Picks section of the Blurb Bookstore are judged solely by their covers….

Wedding Guest Book
Tips and Tricks

Hi! For our Blurb guest book we didn’t do journal pages, we just mixed it up with photos in different sizes and lots of blank space for writing. People filled it in like a yearbook – some even drew on our pictures! (Not sure how I feel about that, in retrospect…).

Here’s a link if it’s at all helpful:

My second book - comments
Book Printing

Regarding this…
 1) The big format, that is only worthwhile if you have good photos (I would suggest 10+ megapixels for full bleed but this is arguable, the resolution and sharpness of many of my pictures was simply inadequate)

I’m wondering if that’s what happened to me. I used 300+ dpi photos that are 5-7MB in my 11×13 book, and many of them appear muddy – not pixelated, just blurry around the edges of faces and things. I feel like I can see the halftone screen too much, too – if that makes sense. I hate to have to down size for my next book – I love the large format. Is there anything I can do to correct for this when I make my next book?

Tips and Tricks

Is it possible to "unlock" the 15-page preview accesible from my book’s page in the store so that friends can see the whole book, not just the first 15 pages?

Thanks for the idea, Vargus!

So…if I’m not the only one who wants customizable endpapers…when is Blurb gonna start offering them! ;)

Does Blurb do endpapers?
Tips and Tricks

I have a feeling the answer is going to be no, but… can I create endpapers in Blurb books? Is there a chance this feature will be available in the next version of the software?

Thanks!
