I agree with you regarding scanning b&w photo's in color - you get a much better quality scan and greater quality to the greys.  I too created a book of old family photos from the late 1800's, early 1900's - it can take many hours to restore these old photos - but well worth it in the end.  I also like to colorize the photographs to give new life to them. To add short posts all you need to do is drag the post to the page you want it to appear on.  Which is the easiest way.  Or you could also "copy" and "paste" it to the page,but then you have to remember to delete the one you copied. I have made 6 books through Blurb and have been very pleased with the quality of them.  Unfortunately there are not enough people who comment about how pleased they are with a product - but most are always ready to complain when there's a problem.  That said - Blurb stands behind their product and if there is a problem with the printing are very quick to resolve the issue.   If you look into the bookstore you will see thousands of books - apparently there are many who are well pleased with Blurb's product.  I agree with AprilBooks - you cannot compare this product to the high end printers who offer leather bound books from Italy who charge thousands to print them.  However, the price is excellent and the paper is of higher quality than others I have tried. It would be of great benefit to Blurb user's if the newsletter was available through this website and not just through email.  I receive the newsletter, however, I have found that my copy never has had any promo codes - but others do receive the same newsletter with promo's - still trying to figure out why?! Sounds like you might need technical help from Blurb.  You might want to send them an email for help -  Just click on the "Help" above and from the drop down menue go to "customer support" to send an email.  Once you get the program to open you will be able to download your photo's to create your book. Hi - Ok I finally received an answer to our delema.  I'm pretty sure when I first responded to this question it was prior to the upgrade in Booksmart.  I'm happy to learn that when using Booksmart you can now actually use the 40th page as long as it does not cover up the logo - WOOHOO!  Which is really great.  Here is Blurb's answer - and by the way thank you for drawing my attention to this because now I can utilize the 40th page in my books which is a big bonus!!  Way to go Ovendenart!Hi Terri, Thanks for your patience. Oh - I think you will find Booksmart just a easy if not easier to use than typing the blog and then exporting it to Booksmart.  You can do it - have a little faith in yourself!  If you can do a blog you can do Booksmart!!!!   You can type your recipes directly into Booksmart - you don't need to create it in any other program if you don't want to.  Sounds like a fun project - good luck with it! Like you I'd really like clarification on this.  I didn't realize that "spine" meant the inside of the book - I always thought that the "spine" of the book was part of the books outside cover where the pages are held together not one of the pages - thank you for informing me that when they refer to the spine they actually mean one of the pages. When you create a blog book it will slurp the blog starting with the oldest entry first in date order.  But, you can reaarange it to a point as you will have an option of which posts you want to put into your book.  I'm curious about your choice though - why wouldn't you just create the book in booksmart or PDF to book where you would have more control of your design? What a terrific project for your students!  It would be nice if Blurb offered a special program designed for teachers who want to encourage their students with such a terrific project.  You should approach Blurb through their email about this.  There possibly are other teachers who would find this a valuable teaching tool.  Good luck!  One thing I would suggest is to order all the books at one time - it saves a lot on the shipping cost.
