Annaberry - Love the pictures you posted on your blog - I have one suggestion - don't wait for people to tell you what they want you to write about - I think if you just talk about your travel experience you will start drawing people into reading your blog. Looking forward to hearing about your travels.....

I agree with you regarding scanning b&w photo's in color - you get a much better quality scan and greater quality to the greys. I too created a book of old family photos from the late 1800's, early 1900's - it can take many hours to restore these old photos - but well worth it in the end. I also like to colorize the photographs to give new life to them.

I have made 6 books through Blurb and have been very pleased with the quality of them. Unfortunately there are not enough people who comment about how pleased they are with a product - but most are always ready to complain when there's a problem. That said - Blurb stands behind their product and if there is a problem with the printing are very quick to resolve the issue. If you look into the bookstore you will see thousands of books - apparently there are many who are well pleased with Blurb's product. I agree with AprilBooks - you cannot compare this product to the high end printers who offer leather bound books from Italy who charge thousands to print them. However, the price is excellent and the paper is of higher quality than others I have tried.

Sounds like you might need technical help from Blurb. You might want to send them an email for help - Just click on the "Help" above and from the drop down menue go to "customer support" to send an email. Once you get the program to open you will be able to download your photo's to create your book.

Hi - Ok I finally received an answer to our delema. I'm pretty sure when I first responded to this question it was prior to the upgrade in Booksmart. I'm happy to learn that when using Booksmart you can now actually use the 40th page as long as it does not cover up the logo - WOOHOO! Which is really great. Here is Blurb's answer - and by the way thank you for drawing my attention to this because now I can utilize the 40th page in my books which is a big bonus!! Way to go Ovendenart!

Hi Terri,

Thanks for your patience.

One difference between PDF to Book and BookSmart is that BookSmart allows you to add content to all pages, so you are charged for all pages. If you create a 40 page book in BookSmart you can place content on all 40 pages including the logo page. You can do this by clicking on the logo page and then clicking on Edit Layout, which will allow you to add image and text containers, as long as they do not cover the logo.

In PDF to Book you can also create a 40 page book for the same price, however a blank page and logo page are added after you upload. You are not charged for these pages but they can not have any content on them other than the Blurb logo.

With both PDF to Book and BookSmart there is an option to not have the Blurb logo added to your book for a small charge. You can see the pricing for this here: http://www.blurb.com/create/book/pricing

I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best Wishes,
Mark

I use Booksmart, however, I still caution you because in your note above from Blurb it does not say you will not be charged for the 41st and 42nd page - it just states that it will be added to your book. It is the same in Booksmart - if I use the 40th page it automatically adds 2 more pages to my book - I do not see a different price list for PDF to Book vs using Booksmart. - which would be unfair pricing to booksmart users.

What a terrific project for your students! It would be nice if Blurb offered a special program designed for teachers who want to encourage their students with such a terrific project. You should approach Blurb through their email about this. There possibly are other teachers who would find this a valuable teaching tool. Good luck! One thing I would suggest is to order all the books at one time - it saves a lot on the shipping cost.
