Wrapping text around photos
Book Design and Imaging

can’t do it in book (not so) smart.  the only way is to work your text in an outside program like PS and then import the photo/text back to your layout.

the text editing features in BS are minimal at best.

How to Warp Text??
Tips and Tricks

hi all.

is there a way to "warp" text in booksmart v 3.0.4.33089?  in other words, can i make a line of text spiral on itself, or make it wavy?

 any input is much appreciated!

thank you

Want to match a blurb cover color in PS
Tips and Tricks

when you pick a custom color, it gives you the RGB number.  just use that.

print to pdf crashes in 1.9

Nope.  Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro.  It works flawlessly.

DPI Question Again for TECH SUPPORT
Book Design and Imaging

hi lee, and thanks.  i did see that thread, that’s where i’m getting confused.  from ben’s reply (tech support) here: http://forums.blurb.com/forums/1/topics/812  it appears as though the user should resize all photos to the appropriate pixel size as well as DPI.

I did resize the photos I was using that needed be resized; but I didn’t change the DPI as I understood this was a function of the print run.  All of my photos that were uploaded were 180 DPI, so now I’m concerned that the book isn’t going to look ideal.

thanks again.

DPI Question Again for TECH SUPPORT
Book Design and Imaging

It was my understanding from reading the forums that the DPI of the photos wasn’t important as long as the pixel dimensions met the requirements for each page layout.

Reading post (http://forums.blurb.com/forums/1/topics/812), it looks like perhaps the photos have to be at 300DPI?

I’ve just uploaded and purchased a book; all of the photos were 180 DPI, but the pixel dimensions were as required by each container.

Are the photos going to print clearly when Blurb processes them?  I’m confused about the DPI issue.

Thanks.

which version of acrobat are you using?  i have 7.0.8 and have no issues at all.  it takes about 5 min. to print a 78 page book from booksmart to an acrobat pdf file.

Ben,

Thank you again for your help.  I feel better with this explanation.  I’ve been reading these forums for quite some time; your answers always seem to make excellent sense.

Thank you again.

Upload File Size
BookSmart

I’ve just finished and uploaded a photo book.  The book is 78 pages, hardcover, and has 95 photographs in it.  The photos average about 6MB each in size.

The uploaded file was 128.4MB.  By my calculations, 95 photos x 6MB = 570MB, not 124.8MB.

Can anyone please explain this discrepancy to me before I put down $64.95 to order the book and find out the picture quality has been degraded in the upload?

Thank you.
