Anybody, clarification about today's email? "Change to Program Agreement...
BlurbNation Member Forum

Hello, everybody!

Does anyone have any clarification about today’s email: “Change to Program Agreement for the Blurb ShareASale Affiliate Program”?

My concern is the following paragraph:
ENROLLMENT
After receiving your application, we will review your website and notify you of your acceptance or rejection into our Program. Please allow up 48 hours for your application to be reviewed. We reserve the right to reject any application, however we encourage you to contact us if you feel we have made an incorrect decision. Including all of the websites that you use in your profile will help us make a better decision.”

Is a new application being required, or are those who were already Blurbnation members grandfathered into the program?

ANY clarification will be appreciated————tammy g

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

Serious KUDOS to the folk at Blurb—I cannot express how excited I am about the upcoming ebook plans. Having started down this path myself, and having been overwhelmed by some of the hoops along the way, I am terribly excited about this.

KEEP IT UP, Blurb, and we’ll all make it in spite of this economy!

Hey, Amanda.

Will there be sample books for the new pro line? I am thinking specifically of the new end sheets and the new papers…

Thanks!

And by the way, I am supposed to be interviewed by channel 2 news this week about my flood photobook—can hardly wait! <del>-</del>———-tammy

How do I ADD to BLURB’s BACKGROUND LIBRARY?
BookSmart

Hey, fellow Blurbarians! Greetings from still-toasty Nashville.

I have a project that mimics an old scrapbook from the 1930’s. What I would like to do is to use a texture jpeg for the background of all the pages.

Presently, I have a really circuitous route for doing this in BookSmart:
1—select full-bleed image template;
2—add texture image;
3—go into “Edit” and add needed text/photo boxes.

What I would prefer to do—obviously because it would be much more efficient and I could use Blurb’s templates rather than having to create each one myself—is IMPORT a jpeg file of this texture INTO BLURB’s BACKGROUND LIBRARY.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

How does that happen?!? <<forehead wrinkled in consternation>>

The above link had some additional gobble-de-gook that makes it a non-functioning link, so how about trying THIS link:

Ahhh, better. Yes, much, thank you!

Non-Profits!

How-deee! I’ve photographed and made photobooks for an NGO called The Hanna Project for the past three years. They are a volunteer organization that does medical and humanitarian aid trips in hard to reach—and hardly reached—forgotten corners of the world.

My very first Blurb book documented the 2008 Hanna Project (THP) trip: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/192158

The others done for this NGO are:

Feb. 2008 trip to Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa— http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/273392

Feb. 2009 trip to Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa— http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/748050

Feb. 2010 trip to Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa— to be uploaded sometime in the next week or so

These books serve as journals for those who volunteered and served with each team; as eloquent gifts for various Ivoirian, American officials, family members, etc.; and as an eye-opener for those unfamiliar with THP’s goal of bringing hope, help and healing to those who have been forgotten.

On these trips, I function as the official team photographer; translator (few members of the team speak French, and even fewer nationals speak English, so that hat just keeps growing); and also triage and treat patients(an RN by profession with tropical medicine experience). My time and effort, whether it is abroad or simply sitting at my laptop working on then next THP Blurb book, is given without charge.

A bit of history in explanation is helpful here: my husband and I lived and worked in Cote d’Ivoire for many years and ran the little bush hospital where THP comes each February…trips back to help those who are in such need are a bit like going home. Second bit of history is that Cote d’Ivoire, once the most stable nation in West Africa, has struggled in the political arena since before the military coup in 2002; and unfortunately, the country remains divided north and south with rebel occupation in the north (which happens to be where we work each year).

Here’s a link that explains a bit about the NGOhttp://hannaprojectsal3.showitsite.com/

The head of this organization presented the American Ambassador to Cote d’Ivoire with a photobook last year….she was more than impressed, and this year worked behind the scenes to help provide both assistance from the embassy (getting the team through customs with medical supplies, etc.) and travel assistance from the U.N…..all because of a little Blurb book filled with images from a part of the country she’d never visited!

Any help you can give for NGOs and Non-Profits will be greatly appreciated by all of us. Thanks for giving it some thought!—————————————————Tamara Gentuso

The Facebook idea? If the idea is still afloat or is resurrected sometime in the future, well, I’m game—it is practically the only way I can consistently communicate with my college age sons, so I check it out most days.

Welcome, Amanda! Any concerns I’ve had about Blurb weathering the economic mire have been alleviated with the news of your hire—way to go, Blurb!

I’m Tammy of Gentuso Photography, and am a native of Missouri (south of St. Louis, Farmington) but transplanted to Nashville more than twenty-five years ago. I am a registered nurse, but have hung up my stethescope for a Canon and a laptop. I’m thoroughly loving working as a freelance photographer and custom book bookmaker. Many of my photo projects find their way into a photobook—just looks so much neater than a stack of prints, eh? I’m currently doing a sports yearbook for a local wrestling team I photograph…cannot wait to finish it and see it in print! Hoping it is an idea that will catch on with the other teams…

Enjoy getting settled in, will you ? Hope you make it to the Nashville neck of the woods. Love to meet you in person sometim. Du courage, mon amie!—————Tammy Gentuso

BookSmart 2.0 patch released today, June 24, 2009
BookSmart

I am using version 2.0.2 for the first time on my latest project—and ABSOLUTELY love it! The ability to change templates is fantastic, making possible any changes needed. Great job!

The only additions, as far as this one bookmaker is concerned, that I would love to see would be: a) the ability to add multiple pages at one time rather than only being able to add one at a time; and, b) the ability to move from one size to another without having to reformat an entire book.

Ahhhh…...it is the dreams which keep hope alive!
