There is a lot of dissatisfaction in the forums
Book Printing

I have to say that I am happy.

I did one book so far, and it had some minor problems on the proof copy.

Customer support was excellent, the new copies came back and are perfect.

And color wise I am quite happy (I have a calibrated monitor)

I think Blurb is not yet a mass-production company, and the paper they use could be more "photographic", but so far, so good.

I am absolutely OK at sending the book to people

CIao, Marco.

Photos are 1200 x 1800. Am I screwed?
Book Design and Imaging

I would also check with your photographer.

If he is a professional, he can’t possibly have used a 2mpixel camera, so he/she most likely gave you just previews, either to limit the download size, or because he wants more money to give you the full size shots.

So before you embark in an enlargement of such low-resolution images, possibly with non-optimal results (the software cannot create what was not recorded, after all, just make it look less bad) I’d contact them

 Ciao, Marco.

190 page Book Arrived - Mixed Reactions !
Book Printing

Had the streak too. New print got rid of it, contact customer support.

Also, the images are not dull at all.

My WILD guess is that some of their printers are much better than others.

On my first copy the colors were not as brilliant as in the other two copies I ordered.

I hope Blurb will start testing and correlating all their suppliers, because when everything is properly setup the quality is definitely there

Book quality & customer support
Book Printing

My first version of the book had some color errors on some pages.

Received today the replacement (actually, I also ordered a second copy after prrofing)

 I really am pleased.

The pictures look almost as on the screen.

If you want an idea, here are the original pictures, although rescaled:

I have to say that on the paper all the contrast is still there, and the colors are as vibrant as on screen.

Good job, and wonderful support.

Thanks !

First book: color control
Book Printing

Hi everybody,

just sharing my experience.

I have received my first book.

It uses a full black background and hence white text.

The text is extremely crisp, even on the cover

In the pictures, the blacks are really black.

I have a calibrated monitor (Monaco Optix) and I have to say that, when accounting for the fact that the paper is not Luster (I prefer that to the glossy paper ), color rendition and contrast are there.

Yes, if you look from really close you will see the print reticle, but from normal viewing distance you have to look for it.

I have seen worse in "real" books.

I have shown the book to anyone I know, and received very good comments on the quality, even from photographers.

I am showing it soon to some pros, to geet their feedback.

I wish there was a wider choice on paper, maybe even with little heavier stock, and maybe with different finishings.

Ciao, Marco.

Best customer service ever!! I love you BLURB!
Book Printing

I concur.

I asked a question, and had an answer in less than one hour.

Impressive.

I think they have some teething problems, which are to be expected when you use subcons.

Ciao, Marco.
