Why are all my 600 dpi pages pixelated?
BookSmart

Not sure if this helps, but I have found that InDesign is terrible for exporting jpgs text-wise, also that converting pdfs to jpgs also pixelates the text as well as other vector images. I’m guessing/hoping that laying out in illustrator and converting to jpg in photoshop will solve this problem. I have used this method at other printers and have been happy with both the photo and the text/vector quality.

Final print quality of font when saving in JPEG
BookSmart

Brian,
I would suggest using illustrator or photoshop if the final file needs to be a jpg with text. InDesign is lousy at exporting to jpg, the text comes out very pixelated. As far as going InDesign to pdf to jpg, well I tried pdf to jpg and while the photos looked good, my text looked bad. Personally, I’m trying illustrator files opened in photoshop to let photoshop do the converting to jpg, since it’s an image based program.

Text handling in BookSmart
BookSmart

Normally I would suggest using InDesign, as you simply import your word doc and tweak from there. However, since BookSmart does not handle pdfs, do NOT do it this way. Exporting a jpg from InDesign results in terrible quality. Sorry this isn’t an answer, but hope it saves a headache if anyone suggests this way. Good luck!
