Can I input the words in a vertical direction?
Book Design and Imaging

Hi zealotmat,

This is my work-around for large landscape books & it isn’t ideal: change the layout of your page – look under Chapter Layouts &  take the second option, i.e. the one with vertical text on the left hand side. If you want the text box bigger or smaller, or want to change the shape or number of photos, go to Edit layout & do just that. (It may be a different set-up in other page settings, but I’m not coming out of the book I’m working on to check, I’m afraid!)

Now, for safety’s sake I’d recommend that you copy & paste the page you’re working on, so that you can always have the original to fall back on. (I know you can do undo, but…)

It’s a pain, but that’s the way I’d do it. Faute de mieux.

Good luck!

Book previews on iPad/ iPhone?
Web Features

That’s great, Kathy – glad to hear you’re onto it! It will make it a fantastic business tool for me if I can display books & photos while on the move.

All best wishes,

Sarah

Book previews on iPad/ iPhone?
Web Features

I am thinking of buying an iPad to show off my photos & Blurb books while on the move. My question is about the use of Flash for the preview function: will the (Flash-less) iPad be able to show the Blurb site & book previews? Has anyone tried using an iPhone to see book previews?

Thanks,

 Sarah

Amalgamating books/ incorporating content from one book into another?
BookSmart

Hi Tony,

It’s a shame about the elegance, but this looks very practical! Many thanks for taking the trouble to give me this full & helpful answer – you’re a star!

All best,

Sarah

Amalgamating books/ incorporating content from one book into another?
BookSmart

Hi,

I’m experimenting with a portfolio book to show pages of several wedding albums I have already made. What I’d like to do is to use whole pages from one already published book in another that I am currently working on.

I thought if I could use Import book with the new book already open, it might somehow import the whole content of the other book so I could select which pages I wanted & delete the rest, but I can’t. Nor can I copy & paste pages or pics from one book to another.

Obviously I could re-create the pages from the previous book, but some of them are tricky, the photos I used are embedded in directories containing thousands of pictures, etcetera. Is there an elegant way of doing this?

Many thanks!

Can anyone help me? I’m wondering how long any books I upload & order remain on Blurb’s servers for potential re-order? I can’t find any guidelines on this.

 Thanks!

Transporting my precious Blurb books!
Tips and Tricks

Hi all,

I’m thrilled with my 13×11 Blurb books & for my new business I want to carry round 3 or 4 & show them to people.

Can I pick your colllective brains? Has anyone found a messenger bag or briefcase or similar with more than 2 padded compartments to keep several books separate, but secure, without rubbing the corners too badly? Brand names/ models wold be really helpful, then I can do an eBay search. I love the look of Crumpler bags but am not sure if their laptop bags have more than 2 functional compartments.

Also would it be at all possible for Blurb to allow us to re-print dust jackets if they get tatty? Surely if they have the data on their servers, we could simply re-order that element.

Thanks!

Sarah
