Yay for international sales... but a wee question...
General Interest

You’ve missed the whole point….Blurb said a very, very long time ago that PayPal was in the pipeline…must be an awfully long pipeline!

How disappointing that after all this time it seems that a paypal option is still not available….I received a cheque the other week from blurb and by the time I pay for the fees to cash the cheque I will be able to buy a loaf of bread with what is left. :-(

Removing forum posts from my bookstore
General Interest

Is there a way to have my forum posts not showing from my bookstore? I don’t see why customers want/need to read what I am posting about. It’s a bit like a bricks n’ mortar bookstore showing discussions with their supplier to the customer.  Is this possible at all? I’d rather it not be there.

Paying by credit card.
General Interest

I have a concern from a person who purchased one of my books. She was a little hesitant to use her credit card as there was no security lock icon when she used her card. Just what security measures are in place for credit card purchases on blurb? I’d like to be able to give concerned buyers a proper answer.

Thanks for the reply Kathy but for a lot of us this can’t happen soon enough. Is there a way that payment can be delayed until this change comes into effect? I’m about to release a book here on blurb and have at least 40-50 people I know that are going to order but it may be staggered over a few months and that means every month I will lose $15.00 straight up. In my haste I miscalculated in my previous post which means I will only make $10.00 out of $25.00 each time.  Obviously that is not the best way for my situtation to be managed. I know blurb has their own priorities but this is a priority for me.

Thanks

I’;m in the same boat as you are Erin. I’m in Australia and have been told be one particular bank that it will cost $10.00 to clear the cheque. So out of a $25.00 blurb cheque….blurb takes their $5.00 fee the bank takes their $10.00 fee and I get a whole $15.00…whoopee! Paypal would be a welcome option for me too.

Please Blurb work on this fast!

I would like a quarterly option for sales payment
General Interest

Ditto! Not only the $5.00 fee taken out each cheque but each cheque I take to the bank will cost me $10.00 to cash as I am in Australia and the cheque has to go back to the U S and that’s what the bank is going to charge me to do that.

If someone from Blurb could give us a reply that would be great!

Thank you both Tony and Lee. You are both very helpful and I appreciate that and for being so quick to reply. I’ve made my changes and have ordered my first copy, Can’t wait to have it in my hands so I can make it public.

I’ve already uploaded my book and it is showing "untitled" because I made my own cover…how do I change it now that I’ve already uploaded it ? I see robkingston has answered this question but didn’t say how to do it. Can you offer any more help?

OIC, you can’t put a mark up on the book unless you opt for the "set your price".

Thanks for that info.

Thanks Lee and Jack.

Just reading your reply Jack, with the link to my store that you put in does that mean I already have a store or do I need to belong to the "Set Your Price program" to sell the book to other people?

There’s so much to work out.

Opening a Blurb Store

By opening an account on Blurb and then uploading my book, after buying my own copy and then making it public. Is that all I need to do to have my own blurb bookstore or is there another process I have to go through to actually "open" my own bookstore?

Also, I am in Australia so after going through the forum and reading as many posts as I can I have come to the assumption that I can make a profit from my books even though I am outside of the U S….that is correct?

Thanks for the reply Lee.

Ok, so what I have is this…..

Copyright 2008 by the author of this book, Cheryl Hall.  The book author retains sole copyright to her contributions to this book.

That is in the first box and now the second box is completely empty. I have left the Blurb logo with blurb.com under it on the page.

This will be acceptable without any added fees? Fingers crossed.

I’m at the finishing stages of my book and want all of this to be correct before making it available. I’m a bit of a fuss pot..LOL.

I have a question regarding the copyright page too. The top box on that page I have added my name to get this text. "Copyright 2008 by the author of this book (Cheryl Hall).  The book author retains sole copyright to her contributions to this book."

Can I delete the second box that has this text already there? "The Blurb-provided layout designs and graphic elements are copyright Blurb Inc., 2008. This book was created using the Blurb creative publishing service. The book author retains sole copyright to his or her contributions to this book. " Especially considering the last line is already in the first box and is repeated in the second.

I don’t know if I am allowed to leave that second block empty and remove that text. I thought I could since it is deletable so thought I’d better ask.

 Thanks
