any tips or tricks for doing imagewarp
Tips and Tricks
If using a full bleed image for the cover, allow 12millimeters or 1/2 inch for the wrap that will disappear around the edges. When imagewrap books became available, I had a book in the bookstore that I had put together as a dust jacket cover book and upon having a imagewrap book ordered, I discovered this problem when my book arrived and a crucial part of the image had been wraped. Its not a problem as long as you keep this in mind. Jerry

Well there you go, all my bitching and complaining about losing the UPS option was for nothing as I just got my latest book in the mail from blurb that was shipped economy on May 29th with today being June 6th. It arrived in pristine condition at my door step without additional charges. Previous books received via UPS were no quicker getting here. Jerry

Anyone Received a Book With ImageWrap Cover Yet?
Book Printing
Having now received 2 imagewrap books, I have not seen the issue I have with the imagewrap book covers addressed here. My first book (imagewrap) had defects with the cover where it hinges and the laminate on the surface was coming apart. I am pleased that blurb replaced it for me(dust cover). However the hinge of the imagewrap book is the issue in my opinion and I feel this is going to be a problem as the cover material does not allow the cover to open properly. I believe the problem is due to the fact that the hinge trough is not well enough defined causing the surface of the book to be stressed when opened and seperations the result. I recently bought a hardcover book (Those Earlier Hills)with a imagewrap cover and although the cover is very similar to the blurb imagewrap books, the cover on this particular book has a very well defined hinge trough that allows for a very smooth hinging cover with no resistance when the cover is opened unlike my blurb imagewrap books. I believe it would not take much for blurb to fix this problem Jerry

Now Available: ImageWrap
Book Printing
Lee’s question is a important one as I just received two books – one as a image wrap and the other a hard cover with a dust jacket. I used a blurb full bleed cover template that worked fine for the dust jacket, but the image wrap book has the title to close to the top of the cover due to the wrap of the cover. Also the image wrap book is already lifting the finish in the hinging part of the cover as the cover is open and closed (a dozen times), giving the book a inferior quality look. I will be staying away from the image wrap books.

I live in Canada as well and am in total agreement with Bob as I was happy with UPS . I have received 3 books delivered to my door by UPS in good time. and no extra charges. Now I am at the mercy of Canada Post who use outside contractors to deliever parcels and being I receive a large amount of parcels that I order out of the US, I can tell you that its not all a bed of roses dealing with the issues of parcels not delivered and chasing to various postal stations to find my missing parcel. So for everyone that believes that their book will come via USPS, that is only as far as the border and from their its Canada Post. I wish UPS was still a option. Jerry

InDesign export to JPG then into BookSmart....
Book Design and Imaging
Hi Everyone, I thought that you might be interested on my experiences with my first book. I probably did everything wrong when building my book and received a superb book. I have a blog that serves as my weekly rant with the contents also being published in a small weekly paper along with my photos. When I decided to do a book I went with the 10 X 8 format and 120 pages. In this book I have 60 photos that were post processed in photoshop and on the facing page I have text describing the photos. Now the interesting part is the fact that I lifted the text that was in full Italics from my blog and then upon pasting it into my blurb book, I converted the text to Papyrus. Now I have to tell you that I have been a lover of books all my life and have bookcases full of them. Upon receiving my blurb book I closely examined the book and other that 6 photos that I felt needed to be lightened (I have corrected this in my second revised copy) I loved the results. The Paparus text with its arty look I love although my daughter ( a photo journalism student) laughed at me and tried to change my mind on using Paparus fonts at the time I was doing the book, now grudgingly admits it looks good. Bottom line is – don’t read to much into what you are seeing on your computer screen as far as the text goes, the finished book compares very much with any of the books in my library. Jerry

White type on black backgroung
Tips and Tricks
I have a blog where I used a black background for my photos and liked the look, however I got complaints that the text was hard to read, so I switched the background to a light gray. However I don’t mind the books that have black backgrounds and I’ve had the pleasure of looking at, other than the fact I find that you can see fingerprints that others have left behind and that would annoy me.
