How to get accurate image color & detail with the finished Book?
Book Design and Imaging
Hi Lowell,

As a photographer I am very picky with the colour reproduction and I have printed four books at Blurb, except for the quality issues of their Imagewrap cover, I think their colour reproduction is excellent considering the fact that we are using small jpeg files which are compressed.

Having said that I import my photographs into Photoshop and I start by SOFTPROOFING the image using Custom Profile of the HP INDIGO printer. In other words I work backwards, from Softproofing to Finished Image. The images will turn dull and lifeless. after the softproofing then tweak them in PS to achieve the correct colour balance, contrast etc and the results are exactly what I expected.
Anyone Received a Book With ImageWrap Cover Yet?
I’ve published four books so far and I have been very happy with the colour reproduction. I have had issues with the hardcover quality and page number glitches but their customer service is excellent and they reprinted a copy for me.

Before you attempt anything , make sure your monitor is colour-calibrated, next download the exact profile for the HP Indigo printer that Blurb uses, you can find this information in links to the site. I have softcovers, hardcover with dust jacket and the Image wrap. I have to agree with the general complaint that their Imagewrap is of a very poor quality, it is in a matte finish but the contrast is very poor and the images look lifeless . The covers on the 'Softcover' books are the best of the lot. They really need to upgrade their 'Hardcover' and Imagewrap covers soon.
