Problem with the "More Options..." --> BookSmart crashes !!!
BookSmart

Hello everyone,

I’ve been trying to update some font colors and some background colors, but each time I click on the "More Options…" button, BookSmart crashes (shuts down).

As I don’t want one of the few predefined colours, this is highly inconvenient…

Also the wierd thing is that I’ve been using this functionality before and never had a problem. But now it does the same thing on any of my books that are in preparation.

Does anyone has the same issue ? if so, have you been able to solve it ?!

 Thanks a lot,

CouCou,

TypePad slurper works; we're fixing slurpers for Blogger, Wordpress, Liv...
BookSmart

Hello Kathy and Jeremy,

I’ve been reading both posts on the slurpers problem, and I have to say that I am very disapointed in the fact that you have decided to disable the blogger slurper.

I’ve been working on my blog for the last 4 years and was in the process of turning it into books (one for each year). Blog 2004 and 2007 are now completed and being printed.

But this means that I won’t be able to continue doing so for 2008 and the remaining years (2005 and 2006), which really is a bummer.

Seeing how this feature was so popular (told all my friends that have had blogs for a long time, and they all want their books !!), I would have thought that you would try to increase the number of blogs supported instead of decreasing it !

Also, being in the software industry, I don’t understand why you don’t offer a simple slurper based on full RSS feed. Yhis would allow bloggers from any blog systems to be able to import their blogs into blurb. Even if it’s a multi-step process, it’s always better than nothing…

Hope the slurpers will be restored shortly….

Print results from 2 page-spreads: pllease give your feedback !
Book Design and Imaging

Thanks a lot Lee for this update.

I’m hoping that many other blurbarian will post their results, cause it’s really helpful.

I’m puting together a new book with all my favorits shots from Japan. it’s a big project with around 200 pages of high qulity pictures, and many pages involve some spread of some sort… after reading all the different post, I’m a little doubtful on the result I will get…...

I whish blurb could update us on when they are planing to release a spread template for BookSmart… that would be SO much easier….

PPI / DPI / Pixels / Resolution / Scanning / Aspect Ratios... Explained !
BookSmart

thanks a lot Lee for this very nice topic, and all the clear explanations that are in there :)

I’m sure many people here will be very happy to see all this in one single place !

One thing that I didn’t notice and took for granted, is that the "low resolution" icon kicks in at 150dpi and not 300 dpi !!!!!! shut…. didn’t pay attention. So now I need to go back and check all my pictures…

Blurb staff, could you consider  the feature to display a warning icon as soon as we are bellow the 300dpi ? this would be really helpfull and would avoid us going back and force between the ideal size and our curent size…

 Thanks,

CouCou.

Print results from 2 page-spreads: pllease give your feedback !
Book Design and Imaging

hello everyone,

There are many different topics on the 2 page spreads and how to make them as good as possible, while desperatly waiting for a template from blurb….

One thing that we haven’t been able to answer is what size of gutter needs to be taken into account, depending on the size, type and number of pages of your book.

Lee started a poll there: http://forums.blurb.com/forums/1/topics/3662; but never got many answers.

So could everyone who already printed 2-pages spreads and received their book give us their feed back, so that we can try to see the trend and how much overlap to take into account?

 That would be awsome.

Thanks,

Ingrid.

PS: an other easier solution would be for blurb to give us a table with this kind of information…......

Board Books, please?
Book Printing

I totally agree about what Leeese just said…

I’ve already posted a comment on the "primium paper option" blog about this.

I’m sure that all the people that have done books with their family  pitures and that have children realized that the ones that are the most happy about those books are our little ones.

they will go over and over again through those books, several times a day. They love looking at pictures of their loved ones and pointing out who they recognize….

Unfortunatly, they don’t handle the books as well as adults do.

So board books would just be AMAZING for all the children out there.

Blurb, please, please, please consider this option. Also, realize that this would be a very good advantage on your competition: so far, I couldn’t find anybody in north america that provides this feature….

Hope you hear us,

never received newsletter
Web Features

Thanks Allison and aah,

I rescued the oct news letter from the spam folder and added the email adress to my address book. So I guess that know the issue is corrected.

And I’ll wait for another news letter with coupons to make some of my non-urgent orders ;-)

Cheers and thanks for your help,

ingrid.

Web Features

Hello,

Just a quick post to know if it’s possible to hae the newsletter resent to me ?

I realized (after ordering of course ! ;-) ) that I should have received some newsletters with promo codes in them, but never did. And I guess that they must have gone into my spam folder without me noticing it…

So could you please resend them to me ?

Thanks a lot,

ingrid.
